Promiscuity, a way to meet new friends?

According to a Time Magazine poll published in the March 20 issue:
74% of female college students and graduates said women on spring break trips use drinking as an excuse for behaviour like public displays of nudity and table dancing.
57% of the same sample said being promiscuous is a way to fit in.
