Bu isnt the movie directed by the same people as the matrix. |
it isn't actually
they wrote the screenplay and produced it, but it was directed by James McTeigue
hah who apparently was second second assistant director for the movie...STREET FIGHTER
rofl
idk, i thought it was good, and i see how the story wasn't supposed to have echoes of modern criticism ing everywhere, but i guess it was just a bad time them to release it, because had this movie come out 10 years ago it would've been ing great
but now all these allusions seem too obvious and whatnot
which is interesting, because they really shouldn't be
idk
thought it was entertaining and left me thinking, but i think they glorified V just a little too much
i mean how many people walked out of the theatre thinking he was kinda a bad guy?
i would've much rather they portray him in a darker light, more of an anarchist and less of a social revolutionary |

| Just watched this yesterday, pretty sweet movie! I didn't get all the modern criticism stuff either. The US being in Civil War was sort of a side story right :conf: |

Conservatives are for less government regulation.
Liberals are for more government regulation.
Pretty sure a guy trying to put an end to a fascist government would be conservative.
Sorry, you're not cool, not even on the internet. |

| just saw it. ing awesome. the revelation sequences near the end are just mindblowing. It's only left to tell what happens after V had done what he can do. Is there any further conclusion in the novels? |

really liked this movie. it had a unique effect which while being dark in areas was very outgoing and comical.
i have to agree with whoever said that it is a bit too blatantly focused on current events though. even though i had not read the original graphic novel i could really tell that they bent the story so it would be more analogous to current political topics. one side of me thinks this is good because as the movie isn't being marketed as a political satire it will effect people who hadn't anticipated it; but on the other hand i wish it had been more self-containing and timeless.
and more fight scenes. :toothless |

I really really enjoyed it. I loved how everything was symbolic and just the way the character of V was. Many times I couldn't decide whether he was good or evil....but regardless he had a great explanation for everything he did.
It just all worked so well, it was brilliantly done.
Though I didn't understand the part when Natalie was in the guy's basement, and he had that Nazi flag....and i didn't really get what he said about the Koran.
Also, did anyone else notice some pictures of asses in thongs on the other side of that room behind a curtain??? WTF was that? |

is that a ing joke? the comic book may have been made in the 80s...but this movie obviously tried to relate everything to the current war on terrorism
let's see...the oppressive british government which happens to be catholic oppresses every other form of religion including islam, which that talk show guy states how beautiful the Koran and islam is as opposed to the evilness of christianity
what else? oh yeah...the british government blames AMERICA and its WAR on the current problems in britain and why england has become such a hole in the movie
don't even bother mentioning the catholic priest who obviously also happens to be a serial child molestor (like we haven't heard that before)
i can go on and on...like i said the action and special effects were great but anyone watching this movie and thinking that this isn't just like any other hollywood liberal propaganda movie is delusional |
Its propaganda because it is SO ING CLOSE TO THE TRUTH?
Do you think the people held in tiny cells at Guantanamo Bay are enjoying themselves?
You dont seem to have understood the film at all. The British Government uses the American war as an EXCUSE. They use the state of fear instilled by terrorists to gain power.
The parallels between the film and some of our current events are just ridiculous. Because they exist in real life, and if you cant see that, you are the one who is delusional. |

Written yes, but directed no. I guess they couldn't be bothered. |

the movie was anti-america, anti-western, anti-christian, pro-islam, pro-terrorism
action was good but the story itself was garbage |
you haven't seen the movie, nor read the comics, nor have any inkling as to the story whatsoever. you're just trying to be cool and call it a satire, as some others do. but it's far from it. there have been hundreds of movies and books that are far more satirical. this is not anti-american or anti-western and definatly not anti-christian or pro-islam which is laughable as is your opinion of it being pro-terrorism. :haha:

i'm just a tad confused as to what you're hinting at or trying to explain, sorry :conf: |

+1
have no idea where u got an idea of pro-islam :haha:
and it wasnt exactly a wall-to-wall action extravaganza, i think they were goin more for impact änd resonance in the action scenes rather than flashy garbage |
