school question: difference between marketing/advertising??

I want to go to school for one of the two, but i dont really know what is what.
i think i have the brain for this sorta stuff, minipulating childrens brain to want to buy stuff or w/e...but i dont know what the differences are...and i'm too lazy to google it. tell me oh great cor which is what. |

They are both totally different things. And I'm sorry but I have to totally agree with Mr Mistery on this one.
I realize you may not know what the differences are but at least try to look it up ffs :P

so i figured out (no thanks to yous) that advertising is the artsy ..i figured so
marketing is following trends and what not and they tell the engineers to do what they think they should do..etc.
i wonder if i should go to school /thinks |

it'd be better than driving a forklift. and i'm not stupid or anything...though i may seem like it on ta. but w/e
i think i want advertising, because i like creativeness and what not in a job. but my only question is the idustry already full of people like me who want to make commercials because they think it's easy,. |

Advertising deals with getting a companies message across to their target audience on a certain product or service.
Marketing's job is to identify the needs and wants of consumers and satisfy them.
I'd take marketing if I were, since it's a little more broad and you'll take advertising as part of marketing anyways. Be prepared to do lots of presentations though. |
