yEs but it's ing difficult to concEntratE on what you'rE doing. as for weed and production, yeah, melodies good .. production bad. 4 hours listening to a flanger  too true..

Weed is great for analysing music; the last track I wrote I did while in 4 different states of mind: Sober, on absinthe, on amps, and on ganja. It's definitely a chill psychedelic mind, turned out pretty good I think and you can hear a lot of different variations and subtleties. It's also cool because it sounds like it could be commercial-y, while still definitely holding its own uniqueness.

To be honest, some drugs are better for writing music, and some are better for listening and interpreting music. Weed is an interpretation drug in my opinion, since it makes the sound so clear and defined and spacious, yet it's so difficult to actually do constructive work while stoned.

Write while high if you prefer it, just make sure you listen while sober and get input from other sources. LOL

If folks followed your logic, you could take some of the greatest music in the last 50 years and go "poof" and it's all gone.

Doors... Pink Floyd... Jimmy Hendrix... etc.. Can you imagine what this music would sound like if the musicians were not.... ahem.. influenced?

Not that I condone it. I did record some of my crap while mucking around. At the time - it sounded awesome. Sober, it sounded like crap and I wanted to laugh my ass off.. Like said earlier - I must have tweaked filter for like 30 minutes. Yeah, it was cool at first - but then...

anyway - tell your "friend" that drugs are bad... Mmmokay?

:p

to make clubbers music you need to get inside the clubber. maybE thats why somE pEoplEs music is good and othErs is ammm... !

but on the other side ive tried mixing on the decks after a few puffs of the herb and when i was mixing it sounded awesome, when i played the tape back it sounded like i only had my decks 5 mins.

if i produce on dope it sounds great. but the next day with a clear head it'll sound like crap. marihuana biases the perception. in my opinion its better to produce with a clean head. if it sounds good then it'll sound even better on drugs.

for me it's very difficult to concentrate on those very rational computer things on dope. maybe you know those moments where you looked at the monitor for many many minutes and don't remember what you wanted to do. thats ridiculous.

i don't take marihuana anymore tho because it makes me kinda paranoid now.

music is the main drug!

You missed one E :).

Anyway, it's your friends own decision in the end. He just needs to figure out for himself what will be better for him in the long term.

Being sober is the psychoacoustic equivalent of monitors with a flat response.

I think this is a dumb thread.

Are any of you guys pro yet? No.

The drugs clearly aren't working, maybe you should think of a more suitable hobby.
