Review: M.I.K.E @ Viva - March 24 (pg. 3)

WOW. Thanks to all of you who busted my ass to get me out last night, it was worth EVERY minute.
Fire & Ice was HILARIOUS. Crazy GT's and jokes all around. A good way to set the mood for what was looking to be an awesome night.
Got in and headed to the bar to say hellos. Nice to run into Michelle and Kevin again, you guys are true veteran party-people :) [Kevin you still owe me the demo you promised @ the cottage ;) lol!] The usual suspects were all in attendance and we had a few drinks to the sounds of Chiclet rockin out...playing very different stuff than usual. (Was that a management thing, or were you just experimenting with your sound?) Anyway, Key then took over and it was really cool to formally meet marsha (and shannon. you two are awesome! <3 )
Then OMGWTFKEY! ROCKED my ass with some SERIOUS tunage! He was on his game for the majority of his set. HUGE bombs like Hello Strings, Arcadia, Without You Near, Advanced (even though I'm so sick of that song Key's MAD energy got me goin for sure!). But then...after the most awesome Key set ever...he started playin some weird that was sucking the life outta me. But at last...we saw the man himself.
2:45 rolls around and BAM! MIKE hits the stage. Kickin off the set with The Drill (oddly enough, the first time I've heard it in a club) then rocking right into Mode Hookers. You could tell this was gonna be a HUGE night!
Then MIKE did what he does best. Worked the crowd like a MASTER. When energy peaked, the tunes turned into a wall of beautiful trance synths...when we needed a boost...ROCKING out with some BANGING TROUSE!!
At around 4:30 I was really starting to feel the energy drain and was thinking of headin home. Good thing Dannie is a superstar and reminded me 'DREW!? THIS IS MIKE!' and with that I was like OMGWTPLOW youre RIGHT! And luckily we stuck around because at that moment, the ROOF was TORN OFF!!!

What a night!!!
First off I have to thank Tyler and Ben...without you two I never would have been able to come and experience M.I.K.E last night!!
Got to the club around 1215ish with Kelly and Ben and were welcomed by a whole bunch of excited TAs! :) I seriously cannot party with anyone else, the energy of you guys is just too incredible!!!
Not sure what to say about Chiclet, she was all over the place and I heard some nice house when I first got in then it all went downhill, I've never heard anything good from her. Then Key went on and dropped some awesome tracks!! Arcadia, Without You Near....then it all went downhill when he started to play ze gino beats. Seriously, who lets these DJs open?!?! Everyone knows the opening DJs are one of the most important elements of a night and with a ty one, you can ruin the night for a headliner. I went down to dance and saw a very unimpressed Kelly :haha:
Then MIKE came on and WOW!!! Now I know why everyone wanted me to see this guy so badly!! What a master at working the crowd with his amazing track selections! It was hard to get into dancing though because the heat and energy drinks made me feel sick to my stomach, so I had to take it easy. After MIKE Mark Oliver came on and I've never seen Mark so good! Holy crap this guy is on fire when he wants to be!!! Finally there was room to dance so I danced until about 6am, until the legs couldn't take it anymore.

HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOLKS!
So, when you drive into a club for the first time and "Without You Near" is BLARRING as you come out of your car, you KNOW it's going to be a good night... so I went in, forked over 35 dollars (Do they realize it's Markham, Ontario!?) and immediately ran into Kelly.. dance2thebeat.... the girl who rocks the planet, rocks probably several planets including jupiter and pluto... got a kelly hug and the price of admission was already worth it!
After walking around, I found Nada and Ali... my favorite couple in the whole wide universe, i mean... you know those team anniston, team jolie shirts? I'd wear a team Nada Ali... (rhyme was accidental, I swear) Anyways, you guys always rock the socks.. thanks for the hook up, good people, good times.. always said that to you folks and you continue to rack up nominations in the good people awards!
Then... the Israelian princess, the biggest and brightest smile in theeeeeeeeeee planet, can stop a moose... i ran into Ann. Thanks for coming out, thanks for partying it up.. you got a good one Ang... just a ball of sunshine, sweet as molasses covered in sprinkles... thanks for hanging out, thanks for being u!
Then, ran into Sasha.. you know, this is the guy that you just can't be sad around, always got a smile to greet you.. from one ear to the other and luckily, i got introduced to funky brewster.. Kristina.... this girl is a class act, just all out fun, sweet, cool chick.... The Funky Brewstah might be the new star on the dance floor... watch out NADA... (well, Nada's in a league of her own)..
I met fahad and this guy is as real as it gets, so down to earth, such a legit wicked dude... pleasure was mine homie, you got the gold star in my books... and yes, that gum owned.
Ben, you dude.. as i said time and time and time again, i met you before i met any other TA, just a regular saturday night at guv years ago... and you were a class act then as you are now, glad finally got u on my msn... too many sketchy nights trying to give it to each other, oh well, atleast now we'll keep in touch.
Ben, Ali, Nada -- Thanks for directions, without them I'd be in Greensborough, North Carolina by now... you guys rock the hizzhouse!

Those pics at fire & ice are awesome.....ly.... gay :p. But hey, that cake made up for anything and everything that could have possibly made those pics bad, so I raise my drink to that cake:cool:.
Just had an awesome sleep after a great night with great friends. All of you made this such a memorable b-day and were awesome to me the whole night... from the restaurant, to the club, it was non stop good times. There was great interaction between all the TA's tonight; seemed like no one was shy, no one had any problems and people were just losing their brain to M.I.K.E.'s art on the decks. I wish every night could have this kind of positivity.

bummer.. no time for a review right now. been running nonstop all day and now I gotta head to a friend's bday party and then the gallery. will get to it tomorrow. until then enjoy the pics.
