How many of you like the fact promoters use a mailing list to promote?
I personaly dislike it, my inbox is full of junk and annoying spam from gino promoters and etc. That's why I don't use one, coming home on a hard days of work, you open up your e.mail and that's the last thing you wanna see in your inbox.
Throughout the yrs, my database have never been touch and it will be kept that way forever. |

depends.
if its a club a regularly attend, and have requested to be put on the mailing list, then sure. its informative, and usually an easy way to be put on guestlist.
if its a club that somehow gets a hold of my email address and i have no intentions on going to the club EVER, then ya, its in annoying. |

| I'm not crazy about getting emails from promotors, but an email once a week (or less) is informative enough, anything more than that is overkill. |

i don't mind them at all, and in fact, sometimes they're the only way I get to stay informed as to what's going on in the city..
and in case they turn into daily spam i'd just block them, rarely though.. |

| I'm on a few mailing lists that I like. The promoters arn't clubs so the mailing list keeps me up to date with events that I may not otherwise know about. If it's a club however, I would be less inclined to sign up. The mailing lists are best when the events arn't otherwise widely known about. |

unfortunately that is not always the case.
some promoters sell their email lists to others so you end up getting all kinds of in your inbox. |

agreed.
I've been pretty lucky with most of the ones I'm on for NYC. They have for the most part respected my email address and only used it for their own mailings I have only one occasion recieved emails from a third party I didn't want because of promotion listings. |

I could see that happening with marketing lists in general (e-mail, phone, regular mail, etc...), but I can't see it in the local club scene. I mean, if I were a promoter, I wouldn't sell/share my list with anyone, and I can't see another promoter willing to sell theirs..

my cell number was also sold in a list for promotions.. i was getting all kinds of useless text messages regarding events.. eventually that stopped because a lot of people got pissed off. |

it's only an email...it takes two seconds to delete...
i send out thousands of emails a week and it's an extremely effective advertising tool. |
