Ok another mint set I've found that needs a bit more exposure.
Antix - Aero Groove 23/03/06.
Antix are a mercilessly underrated duo based in New Zealand.
| quote: |
Making music together since 1999, today they are working fulltime as producers in their Slowburning Studios, Auckland, New Zealand.
Both Barton and Hayden became interested in music at a young age, listening to their parent’s vast record collection. They were introduced to Trance in ’95 by a friend and quickly became addicted to the hypnotic sounds.
The groove prompted Barton to purchase a mixer and start DJ’ing at small parties in the growing Auckland scene. Six months later he moved to Japan to buy studio equipment and teach himself the art of production, Hayden later joined him.
Together they returned to New Zealand, and moved to the West Coast of the North Island and set up Slowburning Studios in ‘99.
Fast forward seven years and the two have managed to put a few of the “big ones” under their belts, playing the VooV and U-Site Fusion Festival in Germany, The Boom in Portugal, and The Rainbow Serpent in Australia as well as Fabric in London.
The Antix sound is an organic minimal groove and their live performances have a reputation second to none as the brothers pride themselves on their high quality production.
In 2003, Antix completed their long awaited debut album “lull” released on Danish label Iboga Records, which has been fervently received by fans and critics alike, the world over. Lull is acclaimed for its smooth production and the trademark percussive flair of Antix. Recurrent mention too has been made of its remarkable range; its ability to work in a club or under the stars, its combination of old school tricks and new techniques, the mystery of its deep and fat pulsating bass lines alongside its uplifting, sexy atmospheres. Some have even been driven to proclaim it as their soul saviour. It’s no surprise then that their 3rd world tour in 2003 was a great success, with dates being played in Denmark, Sweden, Croatia, Japan, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Austria, Australia, New York, Mexico France and of course New Zealand.
Remixing seems to be the main theme since the release of their highly successful album Twin Coast Discovery in 2005
The album is already being hailed as one of the best progressive releases of the year and has been dosing dance floors around the world while receiving gigantic praise.
Recent remix’s for The Kings’ of Leon, Pitch Black, The Fanatics and Rhian Sheehan’s Hiding Place which is on the biggest selling dance compilation to date: Love Parade 2006, prove that Antix have the Midas touch.
In early 2006 we bowed down at the release of “Twin Coast Remixes.”
The album contains seven remarkable re-edits from the likes of progressive wonder duo D-Nox and Frank Beckers ( Vapour, Polaroid), Fitalic (Bedrock) and label mates Freq, Phony Orphants, Sun Control Species, Ohrsten Nors (Iboga Records) and Vibrasphere (Digital Sructures) as well a bonus track by the brothers under their other alias Fiord.
2006 the boys are aiming to raise the bar even higher with more remixing, touring the world, and exciting fresh material under their Fiord banner which is something a little different. |
This set is mint. Funky proggy stuff. But very very good.
I definatly recommend everyone check this out.
