I spoke to an ear doctor last week and he says that you should never use q-tips. They can irritate and do severe damage to your ears, and it is possible to permanantly damage your hearing.
What you are supposed to do is go into a doctor once a year or so to have your ears cleaned.

I have heard this aswell although it would be near impossible for me to accomplish this. I clean my ears all the time, at least twice a day (with one qtip for each ear, lol). I cannot stand the feeling of wax building up, ewwwww.

Am I the only one who would basically go deaf if I did this non using q-tips business? My ears would get all clogged!

Do you know what method a doctor would use to clean them Josh? I once had my ears cleaned by this man who used a candle that "apparently" collects all your ear wax buildup while you lay on each side and a candle burns and funnels out the gross stuff, bahaha. It sounds very shaddy when I explain it now. It didnt make a difference for me and I read somewhere afterwards that his method was unreliable aswell.

^^^another way its done is by actualyl flushing luke warm water in ur ears...of course a doc has to do it or else u could damage ur ear drum

There's actually a solution that you dump into your ears and after few hours, the ear wax just slides out. Found some at Shopper's Drug mart.
Wish I still had that ear wax picker though.

I had to have it done because I was getting custom earplugs made and they need to fit snuggly in your ears, so there can be no wax what so ever when they are fitted for you.
The doctor uses a type of lens to look into your ear then has a sort of metal tool that he uses to remove the wax. Its a bit like a long rod with a tiny hookish thing on it. I think that its more that he can actually see in your ear, and know's what he's doing, rather than just sticking a q tip in there and ramming around.

My dad used to do that when I was a kid for me.

Kinda gross, but you don't need a doctor to do it. Just someone who's not going to jab the bloody thing in your ear.

Ive heard candling is really good for removing wax build up. The youngest of the girls I used to babysit for had to have her ears candled out about once a month because shed get very bad infections from wax build up.

I had a similar experience buy with a different body hole.

i get this done every 6months
go to a doctor and ask them to clean you ears and they will get someone to flush all the wax out using syringe and warm water
dont use qtip, it may look like its cleaning something but in reality it pushes more wax further in which can cause damage, i almost lost my ear drum like that once
