Its just one of the many Trance tracks that use a breakbeat in place of a four to the floor kick.

:)

which makes it breaks, haha

my view on the whole thing is, ya it takes me a decently long time to find tracks I like, but if it's I just move on. If I like it then I like it, it really has never mattered to me what this forum or anyone else has thought was a "rot" track. If I could find some motivation or inspiration from the track, then I have a place for it.

I am also sure some of these "rot" tracks some of the new guys to the scene talk about where probably one of their hooks, that got them into the genre, or at least, some song with a similair sound.

If it sucks, dont classify it as trance and youre set.

glad to see that i am not alone. in fact when i listen to this track and most of the trance today, i am like->what the fuc*ing is this? i mean its like taking a glass of plain water and serving it to some1 else and saying look here is your tasty strawberry milkshake that you always wanted, with a foolish idiotic grin on the face.

Heh. That's the same attitude that has two guys debating over semantics in this very thread.

Oh, and J' & Mystery are both wrong (or both right?). There are plenty of trance tracks that use breakbeats but aren't a part of the breaks family. L.S.G. - Get Out & Eat Static - Xenomorph are two examples right off the top of my head, plus what of all the trance tracks that have breakbeats in them in addition to four-to-the-floor (like Netherworld)? However, there are enough varieties of breakbeat music styles that have spawned from the original B-Boy movement to warrent its own major family independant from the other ones.

(PS: my vote goes to Airwave:p )

Gah, I'm with Mr Mystery on this.

Breaks = umbrella genre for styles of music incorporating a none 4/4 kick pattern, with various sub-genres like breaktrance/trancey breaks or electro breaks, etc.

Trance = umbrella genre for styles of music incorporating a 4/4 kick pattern (for the majority of the track) with other elements of trance, such as synths and pads, etc.

And on it goes for other genres.

C-Quence - Endorphine = Breaks, but of the breaktrance variety.

What we are trying to get at J, is that whilst not the only defining characteristic of a genre, the kick pattern can be used as the first level of filtering.

Does it have 4/4? Yes.
This rules out breaks, so now we look at other elements to see if it is trance, house, techno, or whatever.

Ya dig?

lol! this is funny. i'm with System-J on this one. IMO trance with a breakbeat is still very much trance, be it breakbeat trance or whatever, but it's still trance to me at least. ;)

Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Anyone who mentions post 2000 pop Trance simply has no idea what they're talking about. The downward spiral started a long time before that.

Now that's a tune!

Its complete imo... just yesterday i was thinking about how bad it was

i think they are talking about the beats in the majority of the track, not a track that has some breaks in the breakdown. i dont remember exactly how netherworld is, neither have i heard those other two songs, but lets say for example, push - strange world 2000, it has breaks on the breakdown but is 4x4 trance track, just having a short breakbeat section in it. pb and j - the way, is completely opposite, it is all breaks and has a short part in it that is 4x4 beat, but it is still breakbeat. in my opinion, the way the kick drum is structured defines what it is. if it doesnt go
x--- x--- x--- x--- with x being the kick, then i dont think its trance or 4x4 whatever you want to call it. breaks for example can go

x--- --x- --x- --x- or
x-x- ---x --x- --x- or
x--- ---- x-x- --x-

and many other ways

I wouldn't be so literal. I could afford a first class plane ticket to Papua New Guinea if I wanted to piss my money away. Come on man. I've seen what you drive. I wouldn't try insulting me on wealth if I were you.

And believe me, I've been to Orlando. As a tourist, mind.
