i-River H320 is your best bet. Its got the line-in, and if you upgrade to the UK firmware(should be easy) then it can record in WAV too. WIth the US firmware you can only record in Mp3.
My friend has his player(i told him to buy it) and its a solid, solid player. GOod battery life, good sound, great features. Decent price on ebay now. YOu do not even need any software to transfer to and from the player. Just hook it up to the computer and it pops up like a regular folder, easiest way to transfer stuff. It also has a dedicated plug of power, something that more and more manufacturers are doing away with these days. I like the dedicated power plug for traveling.
Very few protable players come with line-in features these days.
DO NOT go with the i-river H10 series. You have to use Windows Media player to access the music and its HUGE pain in the ass. |

It seems like it would cost you around $300 after shipping, insurance, and exchange.
Too bad, my friend just sold his actually for $230, with the remote($70), and travel battery pack($30), two year extended warranty($60). He wanted a video player instead(loser).
There are only two problems that I saw with this player:
1) You cannot create custom play lists for playback. I mean, you cant do it on the fly. YOu can do it at the computer, but not on the move.
2) You cannot listen to music and view pics at the sametime (if thats really important to you or not)
BTW - im going to double check the UK firmware(WAV Support) thing for you just incase im on crack :crazy: |

So I found the firmware...I was wrong. I got confused. They added WAV playback, but not recording. :(

So...then I dont know which players have come out in the last year or two with line-in wav recording.

I use a IRiver H320. 20 gig HD, line in, mic in, etc. Its almost perfect. 200 meg filelimit (ie 2 hours 16 min on a 192kmp3), no wav recording.
They dont sell anymore thought.
the 700 series also works, anything newer (ie h10) doesn;t work.

The H310 is a great mp3 player with loads of useful functions and lots of memory. The H10, while nice design, just doesn't offer the same type of functionality. |

No kidding...although, mine was a gift so I can't complain - it's still a good mp3 player, and it's very small. I just prefer the drag and drop.
A friend of mine lends me his iriver for recording my sets and there is a part of the disc that, when recorded on, won't permit him to drag and drop onto his PC. Also, the recording auto-stops once the recording reaches a certain file size (which is standard on all of them, I think) - it's not the perfect device, but considering its ease of use, I'd recommend it.
So....Floorwhore = the next Sonic resident? ;) |
