I really liked the Coldharbour and Miami 05 discs, they kinda got me more into trance. I really enjoyed his pling plong melodies and non cheesey basslines compared the epic trance only I was listening to before. Him and Andy Moor.

Then somewhere along the line this new type of trance I enjoyed so much, with the driving basslines and pling plong melodies became uncool, so I kinda moved over a little bit to electro house, now I'm looking for something else that the hipsters will approve of me to listen to.:tongue2

Markus schulz GDJB= Proggressive Trance....chill....130-135 BPM

Markus Schulz Live gigs= Techy progressive trance....more bangin....135-140 BPM

Armin usually plays 135-145 BPM.....so you can see how some songs do cross over to both Armin and Markus sets. IMO Armin is now slowing his BPMs way down, and stepping into Markus area. When you hear Armin playing at 128-135....thats when people bitch. His Space Miami WMC set was about 2 hours of under 135 bpm.

Markus Schulz only gets negative comments because of all the DJs copying his style now. Just look at ISOS LA playlist and it looks like it could be a GDJB set. The thing is, I feel that Markus has been doing this style of trance longer than anyone, and is able to play it better than anyone. That is my opnion. I have heard Markus drop more over the top trance tunes like False Light, Walk Down (Hard Dub), Breathing- Rank 1....etc in his sets, and it works. While other DJs are not able to make it sound like it fits in with the prog trance flow.

Whether you like Prog Trance or not, you have to give Markus credit for pioneering a new sound.

Oh, and I freakin love those basslines!!!!!
wippet
i'll say is like a deep melodic progressive trance....

Markus and Armin's Track list are somethimes the same... but they are totaly different.

Markus is also a great Producer IMO! but that is my O.

A slight contradiction here :p

I like Markus' style, although there are other djs who play kind of similar and add a little more variation to their sets and are therefore better imo, but he is still a good dj.

I've seen him live twice, the first time he warmed up for Armin and his set was awesome, the second time he played a three hour set and it was nowhere near the same standard. But he's still in my top 5 :)

Coldharbour Sound... That's it. One of my faves! :D

I was making reference to how different Schultz is live to his radio shows and longer sets that are all airy fairy and go nowhere. Music isnt dancable etc.

However ive seen him live a few times doing shorter 1 hour to 2 hour sets and he brings out the much more chunkier, techier and clubby tunes from his box. I can assure you its very dancable and the stuf he plays is a perfect warm up for any trance DJ be it a harder techy DJ or an uplfiting one.

I love ignorance.

Wow...Looks like people are really polorized when it comes to Markus Schulz. There's no in between.

I guess you could call it melodic/prog trance.

Markus is the man live...Its kinda hard to judge him because seeing him LIve doesnt even compare to listening to one of his CDs...I remember he blew the roof off in NYC, Club Spirit

i don't love him or hate him... i was going to see him a few months ago but i was sick and ended up staying home instead, and the last time i had seen him live before that was a year and a half ago and it was a great show (he opened up for Armin). i still listen to some of his older GDJB sets and livesets, but i don't really make it a point to listen to them all that often anymore. sometimes that Coldharbour sound really fits my mood, but i'd get sick of it really quick if i listened to a lot of his stuff.

i guess my biggest complaint is that i thought Without You Near was a terrible artist album... but that might just be my personal preference.

LOL... you just reminded me of what I said to Andy when he told me he was listening to that before coming out on Saturday... :haha:

Markus to me = McProg, which is good if you're in the mood for it, but it isn't going to satisfy you if you're looking Prime Rib.
