Actually, "religion" is what destroys people's hope from wanting a relationship with God. The people who attend church or go through out their lives thinking they're "O so holier than thou" because they think they know God. Thinking they can go to church for that one hour on Sunday, and then do what they want the rest of the week, and think they're all good with God.

It's these kind of people that set the bad example of how it's really supposed to be LIVED more than anything. I once saw a billboard in front of a church that said "The best sermon is one you live".

people without faith/beliefs/morals whatever you wanna call it, they see these so called "believers", and think "jeez, he doesn't really seem to practice what he says he believes.." and assume that because of these hypocrites, that God isn't there.

Just remember one thing, the Bible shows Jesus kicked it with the sinners, NOT the "super holy church people". he rebuked the synogouges the most because they lacked the one main thing that sealed the whole of the Law, and that was that they didn't show love.

i think you're re-arranging deck chairs on the titanic here. the entire premise of christianity/catholicism is archiac bull that was designed thousands of years ago by those in power to help the leaders keep a firm control on people, to make them die for king and country when needed, and to keep society submissive and moral. for those people it was a great coping mechanism for all the plight and suffering of their day. today it's just a safety blanket that weak, dependent people latch on to instead of dealing with the grim meathook realities of life...

religion itself is an evolution of human ego, it will continue to evolve and the people of tomorrow will continue to laugh at the beliefs of the people of today, certain in themselves that the faith-based beliefs of tomorrow won't again be ridiculed sometime further in the future.

no, i'd say plain and simple you just don't believe it. i do. welcome to earth. are you gonna hate me for it? do you look down on me because i DO believe? what's the difference between a racist hating someone for their color, and hating someone for their faith/beliefs?? it's still hate.

so if you don't hate, do you think i'm stupid?

guess what, if i were to meet you in person, The God topic might not come up, and if it did, i'm not gonna start condemning you. everyone knows what the Bible says. i don't really need to elaborate much more than people are interested.

There's this book called "Jesus Freaks" that tells of many accounts throughout history of people who were martyred for their faith in Christ. One story in particular i remember was before the man was about to be shot, his killer asked him "i have the power to kill you right now in my hands, do you still believe in your Savior?!?!"

And the man replied, "Actually, i have the power. Because while you have the power to kill me, I have the power to love you while doing it."

i love that :)

ummm right, believe whatever you want, ignore the logical fallacies of such flowery concepts as "eternal happiness" and continue to have sunshine blown up your ass every sunday. i won't hate you for it, but i will laugh :)

I was brought up R.C. went to a Marist Brother run school. I like to think it made me who I am now, which is a humanist. I dont know if I would still have been as compassionate had that not been the case but some of the teachings/opinions must have rubbed off on me- so maybe it wasnt such a bad thing after all.
On a different note, Ive got a personalised number-plate

let me ask this: how can you be eternally happy in heaven when invariably some of the people you grew to love and care for here in your life on earth will end up in hell and you will never see them, spend time with them, or hear their voice EVER again? how can eternal happiness even exist aside from that matter? law of diminishing returns anyone??? you think after 20,000 years in heaven, you'll be just as excited and happy as your very first moment in heaven?

On this matter, the Bible does say something interesting. it won't comepletly answer your question, but interesting, at least i think.

Apparently, the bible says that we will have glorified bodies in heaven. As to the extent of the details, and exactly what that is, i can't tell you, or even perceive it (because i still live in a body of flesh :) ) But it does say that we will be made like unto Him.

Anyways, there's a part that talks about God personally wiping away everyone's tears. now yes, all jokes aside, and the cuteness factors and all the "awwwww's" or "that's GAY", that's what it says.

If Heaven is perfect, and we will have glorified bodies, how or WHY would we cry?

There's so much stuff i could say, but honestly i don't wanna post anything i don't have verse for verse. and even then, verses are always up for interpretation.

Btw doesn't rape imply some physical activity?
