You made it seem it was allowable under the laws. I was pointing out that it probably wasn't and it was being investigated and may be rectified (which you did leave out, maybe to try to push your point?). That is all.
Its not a matter of the laws having nothing to do with it, they most probably do by reducing the protections for workers and the employers taking it too far (ie abuse). |

lol @ ghey hijack.
18 is legal age for marriage in AU. Age of consent is a lil different, and age of smoking pot is dependent on which state you are in.
ah yes cando, is she still in oz? |

No pot is illegal, but culturally it's quite widespread and reasonably tolerated. Cops used to catch me and my friends smoking, they'd tell us to put it out and let us off with a warning then just tell us to go smoke it at someone's house where they won't have to come and hassle us.
Legal driving age: 18 in most places (I believe)
Legal drinking age: 18
Age of consent: 18 (though can consent to sex with someone not more than two years older than you at 16).
Voting age: 18
Not sure what the deal with immigration is or what the requirements are to apply for differnet classes of visa or Permanent Residence or for Citizenship.

| we live in one of the best countries in the world, we have so much to be thankfull for and so much to do. Our largest problem at the moment is John Howard being in power and not having an opposition leader capable of taking him on. Recent changes made by Howard are predicted to hurt the battling Aussie. However at the same time we have an amazing culture and a friendly society for the majority. Being a youth worker i see the dark side, however none of my friends ever seem to notice it. The EDM scene is healthy and growing in strength and i wouldnt hesitate in saying that it is coming close to being one of the best dance music cities in the world. Come to Melbourne and i can promise you will never want to leave. |

yeah I've been REEEEALLY looking at Melbourne or Sydney, it will all depend on the work situation and how easy/difficult the whole visa/residency process is going to be |

youre right. IF i had heaps of money i would be a lot happier. alas...
for the record, the age of consent is 16 in every state and territory except tas and (i believe) south australia where it is 17. i think though that if youre a homo the age is 18. |
