Why do psy/prog albums receive always positive reviews on TA? (pg. 4)

Heh. Me reviewing Flowjob was a lucky accident. Their release came up while I was scouring for new material to cover so I decided to take a gamble. After listening to it and just how good it was, I was very excited to put it into my queue. Unfortunately, a bit of sickness, a TC editing emergency, and the 'need' to cover a new Benassi single delayed it for almost a month. Kind of missed the initial release hype but oh well. With luck it'll be a slow burner anyways. ;) |

I don't think it's one that has it's own time if you get me. It's fresh enough & creative enough to be in the playlist for most of the year at least, without getting bored of it. I love stuff like this cos I don't get over it in weeks |

Wow, this is so true! Prog albums aren't afraid to put on unknown/obscure/forgotten tracks as long as they're great pieces of music, whilst trance albums are always the 'latest and greatest megamix'; Tiesto/Armin/PVD all release the same album with the tracks in a slightly different order (and then all the lesser knowns have to follow suit... talk about overkill!)
When was the last time trance artists put a bit more effort into searching for quality, rather than taking the tracks/money record companies wave in their faces so they churn out enough mixes and stay at the fore of everyone's minds as the dollar signs glint in their eyes?? |

I meant slow burn as in it'll take a while before the average EDM'er catches on to what they're missing. |

| been talking to some of the Israel TA's cause ive always wanted to go there for clubbing/sight seeing(something about it calls my attention more than italy or most places in europe.) and ive always known they have a huge psy following. but apprently they have massive desert raves and parties at the bottom of the mountains. i think psy trance is ok, not my favorite type of EDM but its good enough to get me going. |

very good album!
and to be on topic: like said before, its all bout exposure really. trance is alot more exposed and people who like prog still check the major trance releases to see if it is any good and comment on them as a result. The other way around is much more rare... |

you're wrong when you say "ASOT-people" - I don't think such group exists here at all. You use this word only to symbolize how narrow-minded people are who listen to trance music and that your music taste is superior in comparison to others' tastes because you think you listen to more genres than others do. but you're wrong. there are no people who only listen to ASOT. these people who listen to ASOT love trance and listen among other things to ASOT. that's all. ASOT is not only one sound. it is a wide spectrum of trance. ASOT people are not as narrow-minded as you may think.
and don't wonder that these people, who love trance music, don't listen to psy. psy is so much different than trance. someone who love trance music mustn't listen to psy, even if he is tolerant to other genres. I can listen to psy, I do sometimes, but it doesn't give me the same feeling as trance does. It's simply a question of tastes which kind of music you prefer. also don't forget you're on TRANCEaddict, so many people are not into other genres here, they don't need to. I listen to all kinds of trance, and there are enough good releases these days. trance gives me everything I want, I don't need psy and other genres. trance is also not only ASOT, its much more.
as I've said above psy and trance differ much. I think trance listeners handle it right in comparison to psy listeners here on TA concerning the reviews. it's better to review only the genres which you like (trance listeners review trance releases) as to review genres you don't like (psy listeners review trance releases) because you won't give anyway good ratings in this case. |
