Ok, I just finished the master of this, and while I think there are a few things I don't particularly care for in it, for the most part this is an expertly programmed set.
The obvious issues are just with the EQ'ing limitations in MixMeister, and the only issues with track choice I have are that I just didn't feel the OMO track would have been my choice to rock following Passion, but that's personal preference. The ONLY other thing I'd comment on again has to do with the EQ limitations in MixMeister, and that is the mic from OMO into "Kickback," for some reason, even though it's phrased just right, I didn't like the way this mix worked.
No use commenting on the beatmatching... it's obviously perfect. ;)
Now, for what I really did dig...
The first three tracks are a perfect opener, and something new I totally could get on board with right away. I just think the flow of those three tracks is tight, and when you mix into Passion, it really does just the right job of picking up the pace of the set.
The mix into "Code Breaker" is a touch abrasive, but it comes in subtly enough that it's not noticeable, and definitely sounds harmonically bomb.com.
The one mix that pwns me harder than any other on this disc is the mix into "Corrective Tones." It's the , straight up, sounds unreal, and makes me jizz every time I hear it. Had to go back several times and listen to it again and again to make sure I was hearing what I heard ;)
I NEED: Summer of Space - With You (Ronan's Peak Time Dub)... PWNAGE!
And finally ending with the between u dub really does bring back a lot of good memories of last summer/fall. I don't know how many sets I either opened with that or played it early in a set, but man did I forget how much I dig it...
A+ kiddo - Your Mixmeister mixes are always ace, and definitely make me think I should be a lot more into Harmonic mixing than I am just because I hear how well it works for you when you do sets like these. Well done :) |

thank you for the wonderful and detailed review, babe.
for this mix i didn't use the EQs in Mixmeister at all. i'm not sure if they would have helped or made things worse, since they're pretty crappy and very limited. i felt my last mix (i never posted it) suffered from the use of EQs.
i actually haven't even listened to this mix in its entirety on a good system yet, lol. only listened to parts of it through my headphones and parts of it on my computer speakers. i've been waiting until i can listen to it in my car when i leave work today! |
