Since the debut of their world renowned Anjunabeats label in 2001 Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamaki have become fixtures in the global trance movement.
As the Dirt Devils, P.O.S., Oceanlab, Nitromethane, Free State and Tranquility Base their productions have shattered dancefloors and crowds alike.
Having remixed for a number of artists ranging from Ferry Corsten, Madonna, Dido, Ayu and even Britney Spears, the Boys had been nominated in an incredible six categories at the International Dance Music Awards in Miami at the Winter Music Conference. Among those nominations were Best European DJ, Best Producer, Best Full Length DJ Mix for their Anjunabeats Volume 3 compilation, Best Underground Dance Track for their collaboration with Andy Moor, (Air For Life) and Best Progressive House/Trance Track. In addition, Anjunabeats is on the shortlist for Best Global Dance Record Label.
Listeners across the globe voted theirs as being the Best Essential Mix of 2004, prompting Radio1 Resident Pete Tong to describe them as ‘the UK’s new trance superstars’.
After moving capacity crowds all across the globe they’ve begun a North American tour in support of their new artist album Tri-State.
Tri-State is not an easy album to categorise. Tracks like the already hugely received Andy Moor collaboration Air for Life, World on Fire and Alone Tonight
will immediately impact with A&B devotees everywhere. However, the downtempo Lemon Jelly-esque balearica of Indonesia,
ambient title track Tri-State, the epic drama of In the Past, and the break-beat majesty of Home will chart new ground for the trio.
Although Tony sings on the guitar-fused For All I Care, the main vocal duties lie with newcomer Richard Bedford, who made his debut as A&B's voice on the anthem Alone Tonight. 'I'm so glad we found Richard - he sings like I'd like to sing' says Tony. Richard's evocative turn on Liquid Love and his unmissable Royksopp-esque delivery of Stealing Time will unquestionably wow. But for those who prefer female vocals there are treats in store. The bittersweet vocals of Can’t Sleep are from Ashley Tomberlin (from Luminary), Zoe Johnston, who provided vocals for No One On Earth makes a welcome return on the hymn-like Good For Me, and the album closes with the as-of-yet unknown Hannah Thomas lending her stunning voice to the haunting Home.
Above and Beyond’s Tri-State is the album that will not only enrapture their fan base, but cause thousands more to sit up and take notice too.
Last year's appearance @ Guvernment was not a night to be missed - Their long awaited return has finally come.
