yes we do!

and p.s. dumping garbage into the ocean would result in the pollution of our oceans...the death of all sea life, and bucket loads of acid rain which in turn would pollute the dry land, and you know..just...a domino effect like that.

What we REALLY aught to do is not have garbage at all! (but I suppose that would be way to difficult for us "intellegent" humans to do...le sigh)

Sea life isnt important and doesnt really concern me anyways.

But the acid rain might be a little problem.

Okay how about this then, we find a nice piece of land somewhere on this earth (like Antarctica, some big desert, or france). And just start dumping all the worlds garbage in one place.

Then rename the area to "Stinky Garbage land". Then once the giant hill of garbage gets too big.. we nuke the ******!

Problem solved.

#1 the ocean and sea life are part of the entire ecosystem, so if they die or get destroyed, it would effect the entire planet
#2 dumping garbage would leach toxins into the land, which would effect the entire planet
#3 nuking the mountain of garbage would most definitely effect the entire planet
#4 we are very very far from solving any problem

Dammit. Now you are just making things difficult. :p

Ah well, Global Warming will probably kill us off all soon anyways.

I own 2 cars. Both have V8s. One displaces 5.7 litres. The other, 6.6 litres.

Take THAT up the ass, planet!

I'd like to make a few quotes from Al Gore's Essay titled "The Moment of Truth." Al Gore has been touring internationally lecturing on global warming and the devestation it is bringing...to date he has given his presentation over 1000 times.

"Global warming, together with the cutting and burning of forests and the destruction of other critical habitats, is causing the loss of living species at a rate comparable to that of the extinction of dinosaurs 65 million years ago...we are recklessly dumping so much carbon dioxide into the earth's atmosphere that we have literally changed the relationship between the earth and the sun, altering the balance of energy between our planet and the rest of the universe, so the buildup of heat energy that should be re-radiated by the earth is beginning to wilt, melt, dry out, and parch delicate components of the planet's living systems...[if we continue] on our current path [dumping so much co2 into the earth, where 1/3 of it is absorbed into the oceans] will return the oceans to a chemical pH balance that last existed 300 million years ago-when the earth was a very different planet from the one that gave birth to and nurtured the human species [an earth that didn't harbour life]. All of this, incredibly, could be set in motion in the lifetime of children already living-unless we act boldly and quickly. Even more incredibly, some of the leading scientific experts are now telling us that without dramatic changes we are in grave danger of crossing a point of no return with the next 10 years! So the message is unmistakable. This [earth] crisis means danger!"

There is also a quote in this essay regarding the melting of the polar ice caps, which shield the earth and reflect a lot of rays and heat from the sun back out into space. The fact states that were the ice caps to melt entirely, or destabalize and slide into the oceans, it would raise the worldwide sealevel by 20 feet (note, Florida would be gone, as would all of New York City).

So, think about it. A lot of people brush off the seriousness of global warming and environmental damage...but I guess one day when they die from suffocating on smog (or some other likely occurance)...we might take notice when it's too late...

Yes, and this global warming phenomenon is a natural cycle too... its not something thats happening just because of us humans polluting.

The global natural goes through warming and cooling phases... anyone remember the ice age? :D

Its one thing me and Digi always agree upon! ;)
