Bah those commercials are lame. iLife? How sad.
I'm not really sure about the advantages of any mac over a PC. They've been touted for the longest time as graphics powerhouses, which I really don't agree with, comming from my own personal experience.
IMO Macs are more a fashion accessory now than they are powerful, realiable electronics. |

| Anyone buy the new macbook/macbook pro? I'm thinking I want to run windows again in addition to Mac OS X and am considering getting rid of my current ibook g4 for one of the new ones. Any advice?! |

I do however feel Apple has really set themselves up for failure given that their new Intel Mac's can run Windows XP on them and PC's now can run Mac OS X. I would definitely be putting a "strong sell" recommendation on their stock.

I would disagree with that. MAC's are known to be cooler/prettier than PC and that they are. The multimedia stuff, word processing, presentations etc. which you can create using macs are much better than PCs...
People see this fact...but since they have grown up using windows, they are reluctant to change and using MACs does involve a steep learning curve n getting used to it...it undoubtedly generates are evolves the creative side of you...just with the applications it has to offer..
Now...the bootcamp thing...is a big boost for people who want to make that shift...
Watch Apple's stock prices double...
oh and Safari is all..agreed |

First, you can buy a case for a PC that will absolutely destroy any Mac in terms of style. There are hundreds of choices in terms of cases for a pc. For a Mac, you've got... minimalistic white.
I don't see what Macs have that makes presentations and word processing better thanw hat you could do with a PC. Graphic design i'm not touching cause I don't know it.
And how is having a Mac double boot with Windows decrease the learning curve of a Mac? It just makes it easier for me to switch to Windows after I've grown tired of struggling with a Mac. If anything, buying a mac and only being able to use OSX helps decrease the learning curve because if you wanna make use of what you bought, you better learn it. If I can double-boot, it just makes it that much easier to compare how much more effortless common tasks in windows are. |

Acctually, macs USED to be far superior in graphic design and special effects - however, that was quite a while ago. Yes, they have Final Cut - which is certainly great, widely used software, but more and more SFX companies are heading over to opteron banks, because they are, well, superior for the money.
PC > Mac. Hands down.
However, I would love to have one of them nice Mac Book Pros ;)
Internet wise: Firefox FTW, at the moment. Opera just had too many holes and missing plugins.
However, when the new IE comes out, I have a feeling Im gonna be switching over. I just need tabbed browsing, hence why I don't use IE atm. |

Top Ten Reasons for Upgrading to a PC instead of a Mac:
1. You enjoy reading computer manuals
2. Buying parts 'not included' is your idea of being patriotic
3. Blaming it on the PC is a great excuse... for anything
4. Tech support is your idea of telephone dating
5. Your favorite computer game is figuring out where your files are
6. You look forward to today's new virus (or worm, or both)
7. You like listening to telephone support hold-button music
8. Letting the kids play on the Mac next door frees your time (eliminates after-school kid sitters)
9. You think Bill Gates deserves the money
10. You have nothing better to do with all the extra time

I know you meant it as a joke, but I hate jokes like this because they're 90% made up garbage. for example:
1. This implies that using a Mac is somehow more intuitive than a PC. HIGHLY debatable.
2. Since when am I not able to buy a complete PC at Futureshop?
3. Same goes for Macs
4. I've never once had to call tech support.
5. If you're an idiot and can't remember where you saved your , even a Mac won't help you.
6. Nobody writes viruses for Macs
7. Isn't this the same as #4?
8. Never once met a kid who wanted to play the wide variety of game sa Mac offers.
9. And Steve Jobs does?
10. And this is the same as #1. |
