Anyone know of any good soft synths that are good for riffs and lines?

Im goign to buy Cubase or Logic (if i get my new mac) so im looking for good plug-ins to get, even drumn machines and samplers. Dont liek the Haliion - thats way too complicated, the easier to use the better.

The ones i like using are Absynth, Filterscape, Reaktor.

If you get Logic you'll find the synths on it is way supperior than Cubase's which i found barely usable.

Zt3a is good too

I think the most used by trance producers (also pro's) are: Pro-53, Z3ta, V-Station and Vanguard perhaps

LOL... I'm guilty of 2 out of 4... and for crying out loud, I'm about to download a demo of the prophet.

I'd also recommend the Superwave P8/trance pro.

Synapse Audio makes some nice VSTs like the "Scorpion", "Hydra" and such (but I only have tried demos).

z3ta+, Rapture and V-Station would be my picks, but if you need something with more power try Reaktor and Vaz Modular (might be overkill for someone that's just breaking into the business :) )

I manage with Synth1, Tweakbench Pressure and Audiorealism Bassline.

Really, there's no such thing as a "trance synth." As long as it has a filter cutoff adsr envelope, you should be fine.

Anything with good saws and a detune feature.

Not even necessarily detuning, although that can help.

V-station, and good old internal fruity plugins 3xosc and wasp. I'm hearing a lot of people talk about z3ta. It is good? Just another subtractor synth or can it do like atmospheric effects and other crazy things.

Try before buy i'd say. It realy depends on if you want to get a good sound easily, but nothing special. Then the 3OCS and the vanguard will do fine. But you'd need some quality effects to make them less recognisable. The rest are more complicated but well worth the effort, they also take more CPU which can be a pain now and again. Once you'v conquered 6 softsynths you can basicaly do them all without too much learning.

I mainly use V-station for my basses and saw plucks, z3ta for those crazy sounds, I used to use pro-53 for my supersaw or detuned sound, I still use Pro-53 for Noise Sweeps, I think its the best for that. I also have RB2K1 Supersaw v2, I use that for leads and pads mainly.
