wow a house dj and hes saying he can "EVEN" relate more to herbie and james brown. He better relate to those genres lol they are foundational for electronic music. And on his comments towards trance? i think someone needs to give him a big mac so he can shut up. unwarranted, he isnt some master producer ringing of amazing tracks like olav basoski. And even if he was, saying his genre of music is better then another. Unwarranted. And it tarnishes the reputation of house djs, Abnoxious elitist (for what? sampling disco?), and snobish.
Whatever this guys out to lunch pun intended. hes just jealous cause hes 900 something on the dj list. give me a real house dj and producer like olav basoski. Ill pay more serious attention to what he has to say. |
what the are you talking about? |

ha ha. well i guess that's one way to look at it. unfortunately before electro house there was funky house and before then acid house, etc etc. if he doesn't update his sound (not saying it has to be electro) people won't remember him in 5 years. |
There's something about this that just seems... hypocritical. |

where the hell did you come from. I think imade my piont clear with the exception of a couple of needed comma's.
My point is.. that this guy just started producing in the 90s.. he claims he was listning to house all in the 80s, then he says trance is the bottom of the pit, THEN he says, he EVEN prefers herbie hancock.
dont you see something wrong with this pattern? At least tiesto tries to be modest haha |

ha ha. No. There are tons of artists who don't "update their sound" which in my mind translates to "get on the latest bandwagon". You are really listening to some e music if that's how you look at a great producer like him. |
hehe i see your point but this is EDM we're talking about, a genre were getting 'that' sound is as important as getting the right melody. if your sound is out-of-date then you have nothing. i'm not saying producers have to follow the latest trends but they have to update their sound just as much as they have to come up with new melodies and lyrics.
since we're talking about olav basoski, he did release en EP called 'Eletrik' quite recently. So he is at least trying to update his sound with a bit of electro influences.
btw, what's jean michel jarre up to these days? at least he didn't change his style.. |

NRG, what has he to be modest about? he's an absolute ing legend |

as long as house exists old artists wont be forgotten. Well the artists themselves might be but their sound will be recycled by new up and comming producers who will make it big.
my opinion still holds that this guy is a arogant sob with 10 years of experience behind his belt.
hes no stock aitken and waterman, gianfranco bortolotti mauro farina, herbie hancock, mauro picotto, juan atkins.
its laughable how (as a house dj) he can be so arogant. i mean lets face it, if disco and 80s didnt exist he'd have nothing to "SAMPLE" ie take from.
or maybe not :p

dude.. if hes a legend he could at least afford a treadmill. doesnt give him the right to rant off like that. he didnt even take off til the 90s. I dunno maybe he had great crowd appeal good dj skills and some nice producing skills as well. But lets be honest hes far from a legend with respects to electronic music. |

I see your views on house music, and understand them- however don't agree with them one bit. Cheerio. |

yet again, what the are you talking about? :stongue:
was he supposed to simply become a massive name in the 80's just to deserve a little respect? right off. I know you've got your little obsession with the 80's, but this bloke moved house forward at an unbelievable rate.
he's been a major name for nearly 15 years, and influenced more people than you can possibly imagine. He's a fantastic DJ and an awesome producer/remixer.
your clown shoes are in the corner, I suggest you put them on and off |
