brian, emilio's in kew gardens is selling an early 06 model tadashi (no graphic, just plain black board with a burton logo on the base side), don't remember what size. they also had a shaun white. apparently the board guy at the store just snapped up a few really cheap. so if you don't really care about the graphics thing you might want to check it out. |
the 06 tadashi fuse is all white with yellow and yes i carea bout graphics LOL - the bottom of your board is alike a flying billboard =) REPRESENT when you go big lol - RIDE FOR LIFE!!!! hahaha
CAN IT BE WINTER ALREADY, THIS SUMMER IS BULLOCKS
GIVE ME MOUNTAINS OF SNOW, JIBS, SOAP BOXES, and FREEDOM! |

that's why i said early 06 model :P they didn't have the graphics ready on it yet. i kinda wouldn't mind a solid color board like that. |

ah yes i remember now, all black with the burton symbol on the bottom...
i think i like that late model fuse since it has a pig or something on the bottom lol not the uninc pig or maybe it is lol
plus the 07 white which he demo'd in the olympics i think has an AK on the bottom of it, that'll be copped instead haha |

| Hey thanks for the reply kid. The thing is I used to board a good amount up until about 4 years ago, when I had to stop because of sports. I am very athletic so I am sure I will pick it back up real quickly, so I don't want to get a beginner board as I think after a few weeks I'll want something more advanced. I am fully aware that there are other boards out there, I had bought a Nitro right before I couldn't board any longer. I boarded on a Burton Custom 156 (I was probably 5' 10" when I used it) when I was snowbaording and really liked the board and have heard nothing but great things about the Custom X. But if you have other suggestions about which board I should go for I would love to hear them. Also, I have k2 clicker hb pro bindings that I never really used lying around. Should I go with those or pop them on ebay and get some strap-ins? |

strap-ins no other way to ride!
another TA over in the NY forums (frost) rides a compatriot (he might even be able to hook up a discount since he knows some peeps) compatriot usually tailors their boards to taller people, i think their smallest is a 156 or 157 and upwards to a 166. he loves it and i admit it looks like it's built really well.
Off the top of my head the main companies i personally look at are Forum (which is now owned by Burton), Atomic(x?), Ride, Gnu, and of course Burton. Again personally I'm not a burton fan only because it's so popular which means you might see someone else rocking your board. Same goes for a custom or a t6, almost everyone has one thinking they are pro enough to rip into them. I don't think I'm anywhere near pro, I'm landing jumps and rails fine but no boxes/rails at more than a 70degree drop, i like flat boxes which you can practice your stance on. |

| Do you think the Custom X would be too advanced of a board for me to handle? |

it depends, i dont think the board really matters, its about your budget. if you are concerned that dropping 400+ on a board which will probably end up being replaced in 2 years then i say dont get a custom x. i dont think i'll ever get a custom x or t6/t7 or high end burton board. Just remember the technology and graphics usually are "in the trend" for about 2 years after that I think you'll want some variety in size, flex, and branding =)
PS - SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY ON QUALITY BOOTS!
Anything from salomon, dc, or thirtytwo. DC/thirtytwo has a nice BOA system with the pump =) |

Well like I said before ebay has some nice auctions going on for the custom x that's why Im so high on that board right now, but I think you are absolutely right about the boots. And as for the design on the x its pretty minimalistic/timeless so I don't think it'd still look sharp a few years down the line. I think a pair of red or black bindings would look dirty on it actually.
