Decided to start a new thread, because I didn't want to have another flame Marak5 thread. Its getting really old.
I ended up deciding to go to this show to this show at about 10 at night. I was a bit burnt out at this show, so i didn't party to hard.
I enjoyed sassmouth's taste in music. I thought her mixing was a little ruff, but all and all I enjoyed her set. Then we went up to the penthouse to check out seneca's set. Which was a great set. Yuris IDed a few tracks which I completely forget the titles.
Then we went down to Holden. I thought it was a really quility set. I enjoyed thoroughly:)
Glad to see everyone out again, which was part of the reason that I decided to come out. Trey sorry I missed you, next time man. |

Good idea. Also glad you made it after all :) Moving this from the other thread:
Anyway for me last night was an absolute blast, from open bar (where we finally did not go overboard) to probably about 4 when we went for burritos. Seneca was tremendous in the lounge and I loved every track he played, it's a shame that Holden came on near the end of the set and caused a lot of people to miss some great music at the end of his set. Blake, good to meet you. Sorry they messed up your set again. We tried to go back to the lounge only to find a huge couch blocking the stairway.
Honestly I went more to check out Seneca and Blake. I've always like James' work somewhat but not overwhelmingly my personal taste. Seeing him live though really impressed me and I think I might have to go next time he's around.
Sorry about the potential afterparty not happening, as I thought my roommate would be sleeping somewhere else after he got locked out. Had no idea he'd smash the window to get in. Hope everyone enjoyed the tour of the wrestling themed apartment though! Hopefully we can work something out to have Seneca spin at the next afters, because I was really looking forward to that. Oh, and Rubin, by all means feel free to post any pictures of the figures, I'm not ashamed
Overall another wonderful night at Vision & great seeing all of you there & great to meet Blake & Rocky.
Cheers! |

I enjoyed Holden more than any other time I have seen him, mainly because I have a much deeper appreciation of his work ever since hearing his remixes of Depeche Mode's "Darkest Star". Simply some of the sickest remixes I've heard in a while. Btw the dub is insanely different than the main remix. Seneca also threw down some mad tracks, but that is a given. :) Sassmouth put on some good opening tracks.
btw Andy I don't have any pictures of your dolls, I mean, "figures", Seneca has those. Battery went bye-bye on my cam. And, apologies if I was razzling you too much about it last night, I tend to do that when I'm drunk :)
cheers, |

No problem, the figures are actually Tom's, I just have all the pictures on the wall of fame, DVDs & the macho coats. Several of our friends have mocked our obsession so we have a 250 question test with a written section that people have to pass in order to be part of our weekly wrestling parties :)
Oh and after the recap of last night, since Tom & his friend Flood got locked out, they climbed the fence and Flood decided to superkick the window to get in. |

Dude! The only reason I didn't drive up was I thought you weren't coming and I didn't know Christen was either. Damn, I should have went.... |

I was there (up in the very front right corner facing the stage the entire time) and I thought this show was about 10000x better than his set at Soundbar last October. Vision is much better for him and he seemed a lot more excited to play (I'm not sure what that means, but he definately smiled a lot more). Maybe it's because Vision does not try to kick everyone out immediately.
I loved when the security went to shut him down and he just kept playing. The security guy went to turn the speakers away from the crowd, so James walked up and turned them right back around. James did not stop until the security started pulling out plugs and wires from his setup. It was amazing. We started clapping for an encore and got the whole crowd clapping. I am sure we looked stupid, but I have to say it was one of the best nights ever. It was also awesome to walk outside of Vision while the sun was rising, definately a surreal experience. :happy2: |

My gf and I had a great time last night checking out Seneca, Sassmouth, and Holden. Enjoyed what I heard from everyone.
I've enjoyed some of James' sets in the past a bit more, but even at that he's still always a good time.
Nice as always to see a few familiar faces as well :) |

Nice meeting you too.
After a bunch of us stopped doing a tag set at afters, I popped in that CD you gave me. The general consensus from everyone was pretty positive (I'd give more details, but I'd have to listen to it again when I'm not exhausted - maybe later in the week).
I had a pretty good time overall. It wasn't the best set I've heard from Holden; it was kinda all over the place throughout the night. There were moments though that really engaged the whole crowd.
Unlike that other review thread, the only thing that I thought was really lame was at the end of the night when Holden tried to do an encore but the fire marshall wouldn't let him (he started unplugging cables from the mixer while the crowd was cheering for another track). Then again, they did let his regular set go until 4:45. Seeing how most other cities in the US close at 2am, I'd say that's a BIG plus for Chicago's nightlife. |
