| Great set over all -- slow start, but then he pumped it up with Simply Being Loved and we were off! His energy was high throughout, which was great. Small but very enthusiastic crowd. My only 2 complaints -- 1) the set was way too short (1 hr. 40 mins -- was it really worth the drive from NYC?), and 2) the annoying drummer guy at the back of the club (interesting at first, but SO IRRITATING after a while, because there really was no escape from hearing him). Still a huge fan of the venue, despite being hassled at the door by rude staff. And still glad I made the choice to skip Tiesto and do this show instead. |

How far is 960 from the city?
Being hassled by the door. Can you elaborate? I'm planning on going down there for Randy's album release party, so I wanna make sure I don't get hassled myself. |

BT was a lot of fun, but he should have just stuck to playing his own stuff -he could have basically put on a clinic for classic trance tunes.
Overall though, it was really cool to see him in an intimate space like 960. He was animated throughout and he always was doing something interesting to the music. The crowd was nice in general -everyone seemed really image conscious, but I never encountered anyone acting pretentious or anything. Also, I completely agree that the bongo player got insanely annoying about 10 minutes into BT's set. The only other lame part of the night was the door staff. They must have thought they were guarding Studio 54 or something, because they carried huge attitudes and really prevented people from getting in promptly for seemingly no reason. Intimate spots like 960 will survive because people will feel like they're welcome and safe, not because they're getting the "priveledge" of going to a club in Hartford. Oh well...
My favorite moments from the night were Somnambulist and Godspeed -both of those sounded great and everyone was going crazy to them. Here's some of the other tracks I recognized:
Tracklist (in semi-accurate order with a couple omissions)
Acappella of Jay-Z's verse from "Can I Get a..."
D-Nox & Beckers - Jet Lag Slave
Kristopher Zaar - In Vocal Need
BT - Somnambulist (Simply Being Loved) (Junkie XL Remix)
Starkillers - Diskoteka (Kobbe & Leedz Remix)
BT - Dreaming
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (remix)
Deep Dish - Flash Dance (David Guetta Remix)
Lenny Kravitz - Are You Gonna Go My Way? (Remix)
BT - Flaming June
BT - Godspeed
------BT leaves and waits for encore------
BT & Tiesto - Love Comes Again
Coldplay - Talk (Remix)
BT - The Force of Gravity (Ferry Corsten Mix)
I would have loved to hear more BT tracks like Mercury and Solace, Fibbonacci Sequence, Loving You More, Tripping the Light Fantastic, etc. As was said before, it was a very short set (~1.5 hours), and so even though I've forgotten a couple of tracks, that tracklist above is pretty close to complete. I hope to see BT again and hear him play out a little longer and play out more of his own tracks. |

It's about 2 hours from the city if traffic is decent, so it's quite a haul if you don't have a place to stay close by.

You can prevent some hassling by not wearing sneakers, and wearing a collared shirt instead of a t-shirt, but the dress code isn't super strict. Again, depends on the door staff that night. The hassling mentioned by The Riddle didn't have to do with attire though, the guy was just being a jerk about his ID for no reason, you could characterize it as "profiling", shall we say...
Agree with everything said - great set, way too danged short. That's to be expected in CT, but this was drastic. Room 960 can't do anything about the laws, but I just wish BT had started earlier and played through to the last possible minute.
Anyone considering going to Room 960 should check out boramusic.com, they've got some DJ's coming that I don't often see in NY, so it's worth it. The space being so intimate is great, there's no separation between you and the DJ. And you just can't beat Red Bull and vodka for $8. |

| Glad to hear you all had a good time. Unfortunately, I'm travelling like crazy right now and won't be back at anything in NYC or CT until June. Surprised to hear that the door staff at 960 was being harsh, I've never had a problem there. As for BT's set, like Zachias said, there's nothing they can do about CT laws (they have tried to stretch things out til 2:30 in the past, don't know if they got in trouble for that.) |

I just recognized almost every track he was playing, and luckily I still remembered most of it the next day.
I don't think there's a recording of this unfortunately. |

Here is my take on the BT show... This is kind of long, but a lot happened.
CHAPTER ONE-- THE MUSIC
BT played a shortish set, but he kept the filler out and pretty much kept the room bumping the entire time. My feet went numb after the first hour. His performance of some of his most gorgeous songs-- Simply Being Loved, Dreaming, Godspeed, Flaming June, Force of Gravity were absolutely the highlights of the show. He is such a great producer that it makes no sense to me that he didn't play his own music the whole time & maybe throw in something else.
Stasis did a great job remembering the tracks, although I remember another BT did...
Police-- King of Pain
I think the Police song was after Flashdance. It stuck out for me because I was wondering if the crowd (who were in their early twenties) would have known the song. It came out when the Police were the coolest band around & Sting wasn't annoying (early 80's). One of the things I love about BT is his love for rock and on Saturday night it was pretty evident. However, I thought he could have skipped Nirvana and played Solar Plexus, Circles, or Shame instead.
I understand what Stasis was saying about remembering the set list. I was suprised that I knew most of the songs. Not an obscure on in the bunch.
In summary, I would say the music left me wanting more, much, MUCH MORE. I could have danced all night.
CHAPTER TWO-- STRANGE HAPPENINGS AT ROOM 960
Some wacky sh*t happened that night. Nothing too dramatic, but interesting. I agree with what the other posters are saying. The door situation was peculiar. I got there on the early side (10:30) & the door staff seemed to be trying to create a line. The door guy stared at my driver's license for at least a minute. That made me pretty uncomfortable because I didn't want to laugh at me for being ancient (I'm 36) :nervous:
I stayed the front the entire time. It was amazing to be so close to BT and to hear what he was saying & every move he made. He was friendly to everyone, signed an autograph, posed for pictures, and talked to people. Even during the show, he would point to people, got the crowd pumped up by shouting and clapping.
Overall, the crowd was pretty respectful and normal. There were some incidents up front that were kind of funny. A woman threw her number to BT and took her shirt off. :eyespop: She stood there expecting him to jump out of the booth or something. He finally saw her, smiled and said, "Sweet." He went back to paying attention to the music. She remained shirtless waiting for I don't know what. She acted like she had discovered flashing & wanted to be awarded a Nobel prize or something. I got her to leave by being dorky and dancing really hard.
Then somebody else came up to the front shirtless- I was thinking, "What desperate woman do we have now?" Turns out it was a sweaty guy, who I think shaves his chest hair  This is not a outdoor concert in August people. Anyway, the guy disappear after getting reamed out by an audience member. Club 960 has this elitist attitude-- in fact in their slogan they say they are for "Connecticut's elite." Its kind of funny that at an upscale club, some people acted like it was Spring Break. I don't take that elitist b.s. seriously. As long I am willing to shell out money, I can be whatever I want to be.
BT hung around in the club after the show, which I was really impressed with. I was way to shy to approach him, but spending almost 2 hrs staring at him was plenty of contact.
CHAPTER THREE-- WHAT VELOCITY OR EXPEDIA WON'T TELL YOU
Perhaps this section will bore you because it was about me & not BT. I came from Philly to see the show and didn't book a hotel. Since the club closed down at 2 am, I had to kill time until 7 am when my train left.
That was an adventure. Killed time at two all night fooderies-- Goldroc in West Hartford & Papa's (or something) across from Union Station. Goldroc was a good place to hang, but they hustled you out fast. I was stalling as much as I could. Pizza place was better- they didn't care that I nursed a slice and read the paper for two hours.
Walking around Hartford at 3 am isn't a good way to kill time. Several cars pulled over thinking I was a prostitute. I got pretty scared because there wasn't a soul around. Downtown is dead late night. I saw a deranged streetwalker drinking a can of beer and holding a license plate. She tried to hug me or something & then I beat feet out of there.
Sure, that wasn't the safest way to spend my time, but I was stone cold sober & I thought BT would protect me.
Overall, it was an amazing time. I can't wait to hear his new release and catch him on tour.
