My neighbours are just as bad as I am, so no worries there :D
Seriously, though, I only play loud during the daytime, after 9-10 I drop the volume or play through the phones. |

| I'm lucky, I live in a building surrounded by construction (they are still finishing some of the flats in it as well) so no one gives a . I imagine next year I will have problems and am already thinking of ways I can score free egg cartons.:p |

The neighbours across the street from me sometimes have realy loud chees trance/dance playing late at night but nomatter what the music is and nomatter how loud it is i can sleep through it though, it doesnt bother me.
I remember once they had some kind of celebration that went for 3 days and for 2 or 3 nights they had percussion playing untill around 6am. Bongos and stuff. It was just on a off and sometimes it was realy out of time. I think all the relatives just swapped around. |

Speaking as someone who is slightly older than the average TA I can say that I see it this way.
If you are constantly disrupting someone elses life even though they asked you to take them into consideration then you are being a jerk off.
In a university dorm, people are going through a process that will shape the rest of their lives and need peace around them to put in their time to get the best result.
Mix through your headphones if you have to, it's not going to be forever. When I'm not in a club I like to do it this way as I find it the easiest method to get fully absorbed in the music and picture how it will work when I play it out.
On the other hand, some people get really anal about noise and use any opportunity to make a mountain out of a mole hill. They are jerk offs too...
You have had the sense and motivation to ask and research ways in which you can help improve your own situation as well as those around you. That makes you a good human being. :)

i can see it through ur point thought nem .. but u see .. when i dj rite .. before then .. i have already turned my monitors down to quite low not as low as it is now but yea its still low to try not to disturb the neighbours ... yet i still get complains (prolly of my monitors coz my monitors have their back straight to the wall.)i dunno could be anything .. and its not only then .. coz rite now im doing a degree in music .. and i stay in a dorm .. so to practise my instruments its really hard as well .. not to mention djing .. i have discussed my situations with reception and yet they have no place for me to practise .. only in my room ... thats the reason im moving out soon.. i have tried to ask my neighbour when would it be a good time for me to practise .. and they told me to practise in the morning when they are out at uni.. well i can't .. coz i have uni as well in the morning .. and i come back around 4 each time..so yeah..(they are so ing inconsiderate) rite now .. im prolly screwing up my own life being unable to practise when i need to.. djing is fine though.. theres always the headphones .. but sometimes it just doesn't feel that great without the monitors blasting out. ;) |

I hear ya.
Some people as I said are indeed oversensitive.
You may also want to look into what your rights are and what the building says about it.
Most likely it will probably say that you are not allowed to disrupt anyone with music.
However I know some buildings list decibel amounts between certain hours, in which case you could probably do a test and then if someone says something you can refer to that.
I'm really sensitive to excessive noise myself which is ing weird for a nightclub DJ.
Best of luck with it eitherway.
Cheers

see your absolutly right there, but o well, i guess im just gona use my headphones this summer, other than that i can have monitors on low sound and no bass, wont sound good but bass is usually the most disturbance. and i probably will talk to my neighbour and see if they are going on a vacation this summer, that could also work out |

| I have lots of troubles because of my neighbour who has a bedroom near my room (I live in a flat). He and his wife are about 70 years old and are complaining about the music all the time, though I drop the volume after 9. The madaing police visited me 2 times in 14 days. |
