Tiesto14's Car...Finally got it on line (pg. 3)

Juricimo...

The 1985-1992 Mk2 GTIs came in 3 configurations.

1.8l 8 valve
1.8l 16 valve
2.0l 16 valve

I got the 8 valve. The 16valvers were somewhere in the neighborhood of 135 HP. The 8 valves were essentially the same engine you could find in a stock Golf/Jetta except it had a dual outlet manifold, and dual downpipe making the exhaust flow characteristic different and also the gearing was much more aggressive and people fail to consider that. I have raced a few Civic VTECs (in Canada they are called Si but in the uS they are badged as Civic EX). They theoretically have 20HP advantage over me. I have kept up with most of them (ran out of road to continue driving). In some instances I lost, some I won. In any case I should be consistently slower but not.

The Lupo over in Europe may in fact still use the same Digifant 8 valve engine as I know the Seats in Australia do. So now you know.

Tiesto...the avatar is creepy. He looks kinda weird there...

I cannot beleive someone actually removed their hood! That is fahking classic! That is so great!

no one listen to this man...it is common sense that a nos sticker adds 40 horse power, and everything you added you multiply it by 3...and the vtec adds 20...oh lol have you seen the fake intercooler they were selling in one of the rice stores?

I thought the NOS sticker added 60HP....dam....LOL....

yea i seen that intercooler...well fake intercooler....isnt it actually an intake that jus sits where a front mpounted intercooler goes??...pretty lame...

what about the FAKE crossdrilled rotors or disc brakes that cover the rear brakes of a car that has drumn brakes...they look so fake its retarted that someone would buy them...but oh well...someone has to buy crappy things i guess...

Lazgti,

Remember a coupla years back when tuning imports was still an underground thing. Nowadays, the import scene just exploded into the main stream culture. Everybody has their own styles and images of cars. Some people just want the car to look flashy and pretty. While some head into the sleeper division where the cars look relativly sleek and mysterious. Then there's the people that 'tune' the cars =) hehe either for the track or just plain out horsepower for the straightaways.

Personally I like to keep my car simple on the outside. It'll be lowered with a lip and rear spoiler. But all my funds are directed to what's under the hood. The 350Z is nice! Have u seen the new RX8? that's supposed to be quick! Depending on what u want to do with a 350 if u get one. If you want to keep it luxurious/fast then spend the money for the leather but if u intend to do interior work, just get the the fabric.

btw,Forced Induction all the way!...oh yeah AWD too! = )

I am going to have to disagree with you guys here....

as much as i am sick of the stupid Hondas and Acs that all rice-out, (and some VW's).... there ARE some that i give "mad props" to... I am not impressed by Mustangs or Camaros at ALL... those cars are purpose-built from the factory.... Big engines, rear wheel drive.... low ET's in the quarter is nothing special to them... Now, if you take a small, economy FWD car and tune it for track, THAT is impressive (if you get good times)....

These guys that drop B18C-R's in Del Sols and , i can dig that. Yeah its a Honda but its hella quick... A Honda/Ac that runs a 14 flat at the track has my attention... thats damn impressive.. but only if its a street car and thats the way it runs everyday.

A buddy of mine has a '96 GTI VR6 that runs 13.9's all night and its all motor... and thats the way it is on the street, full interior. To me, that is impressive... in a front wheel drive car that is daily driven.

And the 1.8T cars are amazing... (sorry Laz)... but these guys only have to spend $300 on a chip and they're running low 14's!!! (a lot of them run around 14.1 - 14.3 range)... That's damn impressive, especially for a 1.8 liter car with FULL amenities in the car (leather, sunroof, etc...)

A lot of people think that 14's etc. is nothing b/c of the 9-sec. full race-spec imports (like Papadakis' car), but those aren't even in the same league....

Seriously, anyone can throw a blower or turbo on a Camaro and get it to run 11's.... big deal. But a FWD economy car, it takes a lot more than just a blower to get great times.

what i AM sick of are the Hondas/Acs mentioned with just stickers, cut springs, and exhaust, and these ******s CLAIM to be running low 14's and ... thats total BS... These guys go to the track, make sure they only have a quarter tank of gas (with octane boost in it), take 20 psi out of their tires, take out the seats (just for the track), leave their hoods open between runs while shutting the car off, taking the spare tire outta the car, etc... these guys are morons. Thats now how the car is driven on a daily basis.

And Laz... i don't know who you're talking about on the forums, b/c i don't see that .... some guys post they run 15's.... but they're being HONEST and they have like no mods.... they aren't claiming to add a muffler and say they ran a 14.5 or some . I respect honesty, especially when its on something like that that most people exaggerate to make their dick seem bigger. And there are a LOT of guys who know what they are talking about... Go to vwvortex forums and see the "motorsport" section... the drag racing... you'll be impressed. Some guys out there get their VW's to run in the high 11's/12's with a turbo kit in a daily-driven car... THAT is impressive.

BTW your avatar is just creepy tiesto14.... Like Tijs is looking through you....

DAMN you guys are lucky!!!

living in the states makes these things soooo easy..

in holland there is this unwritten rule that it's dirty to spend bigtime money on a car (for example: if I would spend 9000 somolians on a suspension, everyone would take me to the house of insane peeps..:D )
putting down the pedal to the metal = filthy/dirty/nonsocial (except for me==>>enjoying THAT)

around here honda is seen as a sporty brand with all the type R's and stuff like that...don't see them to much though, like them...

around here everyone who intends 2b fast drives a volkswagen golf type 2 GTI (8v, 16v, G60 (G-loader, type of turbocharger)) or a type 3 (gti/vr6)... still, most of them are 1.4 litres :eyes:
In my town most people think they are master with an old beamer (bmw 3series 84- 90 / 90-97 or 5-series (88-94)... most of them are streetmakers or housebuilders (dunno what's the word for that)..

personally, If I had the money I would buy a subaru impreza (used, old model) and modify this one up to 330 brakehp, a mitsubishi lancer evo 6 (mmmmmmm:) ) or a ford cosworth model....

with little money to spend I only found myself looking for a peugeot 205 GTI (dunno if you americans now about peugeot at all, if not I'll post some pics for ya) ==>> that's 130 bhp in only 900 kg of car..:)

around here the quarter mile is not known... only acceleration 0-60 mph counts...

gotta go

ABT...I didn't mean to mock dubbers but you alluded to the point I was trying to make. Camaros and Mustangs...yes I hate them...I hate American plain and simple but yes they are purpose built. If you want to rip a straight line...you get one. The point I was making about these dubbers is that all they care about is dropping the car to the floor to make it look sick and modding the engine to make it fast in a straight line. When VW built their cars especially the Mk1 and Mk2 GTIs it was an all round great car. Tight suspension, somewhat rigid fram, peppy motor, reliable and easy as hell to work on. Alot of these kids go all out to make it fast in a straight line. These guys getting their imoprts to go so fast sacrifice alot in drivability and I just don't think its worth it. It gets to the point where the marginal gains do not equal the marginal costs. If its just straight line speed that matters then I just don't see the point in getting a dub or H in the first place. Just me. Yeah I have seen some quick cars and I don't dis Hondas like most dubbers because yes I have seen some quick cars and the fact of the matter is that I drive for fun not really to have street racing supremacy. Whats the point, I ain't getting paid...so why thrash my car for someone elses amusement. My 2 cents. I just think the cost is way too much to bring the power up to some significant level. About the 1.8T...I agree they are kick ass. IMO VW has redeemed itself with that motor, because I have not been at all impressed with their lack of development. Since 1993 the VR6 has remained relatively the same. The 8 valves have been gutless unless boosted and in general the cars have suffered a bit in the quality IMO. The Mk3s and Mk4 also have a very different feel...almost non-GTi like...hard to explain...the 1.8T is awesome, I am very impressed by it I just don't see why these kids are dropping crazy crazy money on them. A chip is a simple mod and they are close to a grand here in Canadian dollars and they add very real power gains. Not enough to make me say oh my gawd this car is fast. It makes the car transfor from peppy to quick...but thats as far as I would go, even then...adding more boost to such a small hairdryer is going to have long run complications. Reliability is almost certainly going to suffer. That is one complex motor and I would not want anything going wrong with it at all.

STi...I love that 350Z if I were to buy it I would want it to be hardcore straight out of the box so I would like to get the race-prepped version but that much cash for a car with cloth interior. Uhuh. Screw it I would definitely go for the Luxo version...should be fast enough. But I really like the TT. And by the time I am ready to buy one the ones in the used market should still be relatively low mileage and should be depreciated somewhat since alot of people would rather go for something quicker for the money. For me the speed is secondary though as long as the package is something that can be sorted easily and inexpensively. The handling and braking are more important to me since I am insane in corners and in applying the brakes.

Kolkiewolkie...do you know how much I hate our cars here in N America. Peugeot 206 is alright I have seen them. I like all the cars in Europe because all are small and compact and many are quick. Plus you guys get Type R versions and hardcore models. Here, all the damn baby boomers want Sport Utility Vehicles with 4 wheel drive because they don't want to get stuck in the snow. They wouldn't get stuck in the snow if they just saved their money and bought winter tires instead of a POS Ford Explorer, Mercedes Ml or Chevy Blazer. I hate SUVs...if I really really needed AWD it would be a Subaru or an Audi. Less gas...more performance and better looking. Everybody here in Canada and US beleives in bigger is better. In Europe there is no end to the number of models of sporty cars that would appeal to our age group...

VW Lupo 16v (AWESOME CAR!!! I wish VW would bring it here the bastards)
Peugeot 206
Renault Clio Sport 172 (what a bad ass hatchback!!!)
Renault Clio V6 (Insane. Mid mounted 6-rear wheel drive almost perfect weight distribution)
Civic Type Rs
etc etc

I kinda agree with that...but to be honest a 14s ETA to me is not impressive on any car nowadays......here in NYC we have so many illegal drag races with hundreds of cars...and i see so many kids with civics and with 14s ETAs and its boring to ME.....i think a car running high 9s or 10s is impressive......i am mainly talking about hondas and acuras though....a couple of my friends have GTi's and are members of a club called H20 and those cars are faster then hell....i guess i shoulda stated i meant hondas and Acs not really VWs...well when i say VW i mean GTi only....i dotn care how fast it is but if your driving a VW Bug with a twin turbo and the loudest blow valve running low 8s...you still look like a fag..LOL LOL....
SteveTranz4ever
Thats a damn nice car !!
Wouldn´t mind to drive it some day... ;)

I'm not much of a fan for American cars. I'll give them some credit, they can go fast in a straight line. I used to drive a stripped, dead beaten civic Si with a B18C engine and SPOON electronics in it. I used to dust stangs but what's the fun in that. I used to go crazy about drag racing but then everybody here in Toronto killed the scene and now cops are all over the place. So with my WRX now, I just race it on the track or up north near my cottage where there's back trails i can rip on.

IMO...I think the VR6 would be better than the 1.8T only if ur looking to put huge HP in it but if ur looking to set it up as a track racer than the 1.8T is better. But both models are kickass! drove em' both before and they are relatively close but the VR6 was faster

I like the new Civic Type R! 200HP!

i don't really mind that there are so many people out there that claim they have fast rides. They can say whatever they want, I don't really mind. But if I or someone else dusts them on the road. That's when I laugh and point. I admire those who respect the cars and mod it to their style. I myself respect cars and tuning. Anyone can dump 10 grand under the hood and expect to go fast. IMO it's how u spend your money and the one who's behind the wheel.
