I guess allegory isn't your strong point.
Let me spell it out for you.
Money alone cannot buy happiness. I'd argue strongly that without meaningful human interaction and relationships, you can never be truly happy. Money does not buy this type of human interaction. Again, it is difficult to be happy without money, but while money and happiness are not mutually exclusvie, happiness and complete lack of human relationship is. |

No you make an extremely dumb scenario to "prove" your point. And when one has to do that, they have no real point ;). WHERE HAS ANYONE HERE SAID THAT MONEY ALONE WILL BUY YOU HAPPINES?!?!?!?!? They haven't.
Point of the matter is that without money you're ed. Without other important things in life such as love, family, relationship, friends, you're ed as well. |

| Do you guys ever watch sweet 16 on MTV? Those people seem really happy because they have a lot of money they are beautiful and they have good relationships with a group of people which allows them to be happy. But money on the last episode didn't get the b-day girl everything she wanted. Her singer was a non-popular guy and wasn't even famous. All what the singer had done to get the job was write a song for the b-day girl. You get my point not every spoiled rich kid gets everything they want. Thats why if you want to be rich its best if you make the money because if you don't you will always be at the mercy of the money holder. |

ahh the whole "money doesn't buy happiness" ploy this whole argument is s00o0o000oooo old and stupid. what's the root of most people's problems? lack of a good/decent lifestyle? oh im sorry big TVs are spoiling people? how? because you wanna indulge yourself after a 15 hour day at the office trying to run your company or a doctor who just performed brain surgery and saved a life wants to come home and enjoy life in all it's vibrant colour? pfft, STOP BEING JEALOUS GODDAMNIT. |
You are arguing against the addage "money doesn't buy happiness," in the first line. This would mean you are saying that "money does buy happiness."
If I were to say "money buys a chesseburger," where exactly is there room for other items that go into the purchase of a cheesburger in that statement? If you say "money buys happiness," you mean expressly that; money is what buys happiness. If you want to now modify your stance by saying "money buys happiness, but not alone," great, that's what you have done. But that was not your original arguement. |

some slight alteration is required in the 'what i can have' portion, but sign me up! :p |

Ive always thought the opposite,
"whoever said money cant buy happiness, never had money"
Granted having alot of money wont guarentee happiness in life but it sure makes it a hell of lot easier. |

Indeed. I hate to sound shallow or materialistic (because I really don't think I am), but in the proper context, there's a LOT of things I can do with money to enhance my state of happiness.
But money cannot by true friendship or love. |

| I meant to say this earlier. Who needs friends to be happy? As long as you have family and are having sex than you should be ok. As long as you are used to having no friends. |

Life can be pretty lonely when you don't have anybody to talk to. ;) |

| Money buys freedom (if you're not a wage slave) and freedom gives people more time to get on with the things they love doing |
