You might perceive it as snobbish. I'm just typing what I think.

The Da Vinci Code is clearly written in a style that appeals to the masses. And it did a very successful job at that. Problem is, most readers with a more refined (for the lack of a better word) taste will be left unsatisfied by it. They'll probably choose to steer clear of Brown's books after having read the Da Vinci Code (and/or his other works). I for one did.

It's really a bit like McDonalds (but I think I've said that before). Created to serve the masses in a quickly digestible manner.

exactly how i feel. guess i must be a snob too

Went and saw the movie last night. Have yet to read the book.

I thought the movie was pretty good. Had a little bit of a distraction though... 2 stupid s were practically screwing each other beside me. I was ready to kill.

Anyway, my aunt told me this movie was heresy, which kind of inspired me more to see it. I enjoyed it, and I think that it makes a lot of sense.

Why are religious people so afraid of being wrong? Time and time again it has been proven that people get things wrong, and then later discover the truth. For example, at one time, we thought the planet was flat. If we got something so fundamental as that wrong, who's to say that we haven't been a little confused about what Jesus did in his life?

movie was ok. the ending was too long. it should've ended with "sophie, you ARE the secret" then a DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNN "to be continued...The Da Vinci Revolutions"
the book found so many ways to jab in mythology and symbols more than I knew the movie could. I thought the History/discovery channels were more exciting than the movie.

+1

I thought the book was so-so, and the movie had no surprises for me. I realize it's tough to be original when doing an adaptation of the book, but for whatever reason, I still didn't like it that much. Tom Hanks annoyed me too. He's usually gold, but something about his performance came across as "I'm a world-famous actor" rather than "I'm just a professor".
