Maybe my mind is just in the gutter from sitting at my desk all day. :conf:

Historic Jewish deli in LES, great sandwiches. Also the location of Meg Ryan's fake orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally.

Municipal Archives [corner of chambers st & 1 Centre St. tons of family and governmental records stored there, housed in a former courthouse]

Jefferson Market Library [6th ave. & 10th St.]

private:

NYU's Tamiment Library [located inside the hideous Bobst library; w. 3rd @ washington sq. south; houses one of the best labor-related archives in the country]

Amazing French cuisine. Fantastic wine list as well, though many are costly. When we went, there was a $10,000 bottle and the majority were over $100, but they do have a 40 for $40 page in the thick book that is their wine list.

Amazing service and very knowledgeable sommelier. They gave us three free desserts for just barosoap and I, which capped off a great meal. Also part of the Myriad restaurant group that includes Nobu and Tribeca Grill.

Old Homestead: [14th St. & 9th Ave] probably my fave steakhouse in the city. my grandfather knew the owners back in the day, when the meatpacking district was actually used for packing meat, and we'd get hooked up. place has been hanging on since the 1880s.

Odeon
145 W. Broadway (Thomas St.)
Former 80s hotspot (gets a mention in Brett Easton Ellis' American Psycho), that continues to serve good food, especially the frites.

Exceptional Italian food/wine. I attended a private dinner held upstairs at this place and everything was top notch. It's another of the B.R. Guest Restaurants (Blue Water Grill, Dos Caminos, etc.)
