does only going until 2am on Friday concern anyone besides me? And 5am on Sat? What are all the etards going to do for the next 4 hours while they are still trippin balls?
For wemf's sake I hope they don't agree to a 2am noise bylaw.
I'm already not terribly impressed that they picked up a rock stage (I like rock, but since when is the world ELECTRONIC MUSIC festival concerned about rock?) This will attract a much different crowd.
All that being said: I have already bought my ticket so I'm in regardless. Now I can only hope for the best. :) Over the past 5 or 6 years of me going to WEMF I've learned that you can have the best of times even when it's the worst of locations and events. WEMF is one of those events that is godly when done right, horrible when things go wrong and in the end is really up to your personal attitude as how much fun or misery you are going to have over it.
That first year they had it in Bobcaygeon was a disaster as I had drove 10.5 hours to get there and then got stuck in line for additional 11 hours at the gate due to the OPP stepping in and closing it down! Even with all that drama, Lange and Pulser had two of the greatest morning trance sets ever on Sunday morning right as the sun crept out over the horizon. I left with the biggest smile on my imaginable. Some Wemf's have been better than others, but they are all still worth going to. :) |

Most people move out of the city because of the noise and traffic. Regardless of what events are held during the day, having music at night is not something these settlers want. Hey, even when you are at a camping site or a trailer park during a long weekend, people complain when there is noise after 12, even though people go to these places a lot of time to socialise.
So maybe it's time to do what Detroit and Miami are doing, and hold this event during the day. Get the whole city of Toronto to support it, and have the local clubs handle the afterhours debauchery. Of course if this is done, then the event will loose its attraction of being an overnight event at a campground. Plus it might take some shine off the Pride parade and Guvernment events. |
NO
Do not give into the old cranks.
Why should they dictate our lifestyles? This country is HUUUUGE. Why shouldnt there be room for everyone? Why cant some dumbass close his window one night out of his life and let other people have fun?
Why are they capable of holding these events in the MIDDLE OF BIG CITIES and next to populated areas in the rest of the world and not here?
Answer, because here we let these old ******s push us around |

youd think... but im willing to bet the neighbours and councillors actually go to races.
If it doesnt benefit them why should they allow it? Thats the new theme in canadian society. And that mentality is also widely support on TOTA. So why are TOTAs surprised when that same mentality comes back to haunt them? |
generalizing. There are several factors to consider when hosting an event of this nature, for one drugs. As for this "mentality" which you speak of, this event in this municipality is a new one of this nature, therefor the mentality is not similar to just keeping a racetrack opened or a horse track or a casino which is already in existence, the mentaility has to focus on " do we want this type of venue here?" - from their perspective the issue to ponder is do we need this? do we not? do the benefits outweight the negatives?
Keeping in mind of course we (partiers) are essentially using their land and city for our own purposes, renting their place for our party.
Dunno if you could simply reduce this down to a mentality/society issue, this is similar to our garbage situation; we make it then we ship it elsewhere. In this, instead of garbage we are forced to ship our fun elsewhere, but maybe "elsewhere" just doesnt want it.... |
