:conf:
i know its all about apinions, and i never thought u would bash anyone, after all what we do here is share opinions. i just felt like expressing mine on this set coz i hadnīt done it. and as i found ur post let me integrate that mind stuff i talk about, i used it...
but hey now u say something that i find even more interesting, nothing being perfect in life... i think perfection is the goal to achieve because we know we can do it. its just a matter of deciding what is perfect to you. perfect is all that has to happen for this life to be fulfiling, being life fulfilled with knowledge and feelings i think everything is perfect ;) coz it just has to happen.
but i guess thats also a matter of opinion isnt it?
and yes for sure energy is how u judge the detroyerness of a dance floor its just that i would rather have it boosted by some intense half a second unpatterned repetitive beep!
and pls dont misstake my posts, i will never give sh7t to ppl, or take anything personal... i just want to share feed back, ideas and hopefully some nice laughs. :haha: |

Thank you all ( Mitsu, Azia, Alex, all-nite, jesteraver, Anne, Viktor, Kim, Haki, Julius, Rachel, Swalsh, Erika, & Juanicha ) for the support. I'm glad most of you enjoyed the mix, because honestly each track is unique and special, at least to me, I just thought they were something else :)
All-nite, thanks for the constructive criticism, you know I love that :)
Juan, you have a crazy summer man, I'll organise a hijack of the audibles behind STM for us to play with once u get back :)
It would be cool if you guys can give me your opinions as to where my sound would fit best at? I know it has to be a dark venue for sure, I wont do posh clubs. So far parking and aria have been suggested. w0rd? |

In my opinion this is moe's best set. Technically (the mixing, the transitions, the filters etc.) is near-perfect and what particularily grabs my attention is the track-flow. I don't think he had a better progression of tracks before:
Beginning with Lost in Sound, the gateway to another world opens, somewhere alien and it's the perfect opener for the set because it gets you bobbing your head with the outerspace gunplay and, as I say, is like a gate that unlocks as you enter another world, where different music is heard....something else, something out of the ordinary...
While there was some sign of disturbance with Smoke, we enter the playfull land of Mario and his brother Luigi as they go through a very bouncy level. On the surface all seems well, but the regular theme is re-arranged and cut-up making you (and probably the bros) pay more attention to the melody that it's creating...we find that in this world music is most important...the high pitched notes near the transition to Metope create beautiful synchronization as the crunchy snare releases the most original track I've heard in a long time, M1D1. We've jumped planets but its the same universe, because the flow of the melody reminds us of the past two tracks with its simpleness and yet this track is a world of difference. Prolongated guitar strings that get reversed, followed by electronic seals on acid...the song gives goosebumps and the bass is a sign of things to come. The first track on the set that has a special depth to it.
M1D1 switches off quite literally and what blossoms is AFX with PWSteal.Ldpinch.D and as the title suggests, this is the land of mystery and confusion. Is this edm we are listening? Sounds like an orchestrated symphony of synth that are hard to imagine, dominating high hats are replaced by the energetical boost of Day of the Night. Prepare for battle, you're gonna need those guns from Smoke, it could almost sound as a nightmarish level Mario and Luigi are having trouble in, the rabbid synths bring us back to Ldpinch and the ship with its Red Purple siren, wailing in the distance, comes as the sign of things to come. Not before we are pulled in and out of a Dahlback-lullaby does the Schumacher base start to increase and take over...
Red Purple is the first real dancefloor oriented track: the two synths are a calling and as the track speeds up in rhythm so does our energy level...then 21:17 the track breathes and takes form. The gigantis ship keeps elevating you and the machineguy like drum pattern makes you hungry for that battle. The main synth wiggles and squirms through the sound spectrum and at 23:26 comes the classic silent moment. 24:08 and there is no escape, the alien-worm has exploded, imploded and is now EVERYWHERE...after an experience like that, Fresh Air comes as the perfectly titled track to give us a breather. The beat keeps the shakers shaking but what this track adds to the this world is bizarreness. Mixed with humour by sheer fact that a dude comes after Schumacher saying O..O..O..Obre and a girl keeps talking about her "acid trip" which sounds like "nasty shrimp". The cut-up, distorded, miriad of voices and samples in the background makes this an audable experience like none other (i recommed headphones for this one)..Things are back in motion, back in groove with Sock Puppet that brings us back to the hemisphere of Lost in Sound and an array of alien-like synths-on-speed that to me sound like gunplay. 31:42, the drop after an overload of sounds brings in another track that is so cut up that it almost sounds intentionally wrong..We are back in to that world of cut-up distorted sounds and vocals, blurred as to which is which, with Unpleasant Hardisc space. There is obvioulsy something that wants to escape, a struggle is taking place and what makes the track for me is the little guitar riff that sounds like its taken from a non-edm track. It's a little reminder that we are NOT in that real-world, something is different here and everyone is anticipating the end result. 36:11 holds the key. The aliens have entered the world and they "cannot take this human device", Revenge enters as the finale to this journey and its a dark one. Darkness is all that is left in the soul as the track says, and the Gunnerlike effects provide like a counterpoint to these outer world creatures that have taken over. The aliens are not alone, robots dwell in these lands, and they are angry...as the track ends with both sounds dying off, struggling at the very last second....
Wow. Yeah, i didnt mean it to be this long so I understand if no-one will be bothered to read it. I need to find a job real fast....:nervous:
Bottom line:
moevalith your set was sick, I cannot wait to see what is next in line for you. those ing reversed seals get to me everytime...heh

| Nick, I would quote what you wrote, but it is long. Oh well, it was the perfect imagery that his tracks display. You said it all. |

man, that is the script for moevalith : entering the paranoid android [mutoid]. it really shows that MT has some future in the graphic indUsTry.

i love it man, the descriptions fit very well our traditinal image-hunting trips. what u say about the track-flow has been largely sustained by the 7 564 words u took the time to write.:tongue2 this is something moeva is always giving us, that progression. do u think we can say its a digression into darkness? lol. i think thats what i enjoy the most out of it, is like Svenīs 5th season the first two tracks look like they come from another [world], yet as MT said it is still the same universe. and after all, moevalith is sharing his work with us, i guess he is sharing his universe as well... thats why i think no moeva will ever adapt to a club; the club will be moevalized and those of us who cannot keep the pace: Ļopen the window and GET OUT !!Ļ (or just hope the are no windows) :nervous:
moe, i think the best places for you to mix would be real UNDERground UNDERknown UNDERexclusive little places that would accept completly ur transformation. then once its not only you and your music, but all the things that come with it (;)) you ll be going anywhere and be fully UNDERstood. |

Great set moeva, you know what I think.
I'm not too sure of the filters on the last track @ the very end, but everything else is amazing.
Great track selection, but got to make something more dancey for club space.
Make Junes promo longer, at least an hour... I find that this one is a bit short (another track or two woulda been good...)
Now its time to gig bro. Cheers!

i'm downloading it and will be back with feedback tomorrow.
And as for the comment from all-night that even I can drop a fromage, let me just say that when I play Sos (skylark remix) it is and EDITED version of mine in which I have left about 10% of the vocal because i just hate the vocal but love the instrumental part.
I don't agree that you need a commercial track to really drop a bomb on them, actually, I get a real kick out of making people go off with an unrecognizable tracklist. ;-) |
