Not many DJs have experienced the rush of being voted the world's number one in DJ Magazine's prestigious poll. No other DJ can claim to have won it three times, let alone consecutively. But Tiësto's is a career punctuated by landmark achievements – the first DJ in the world to sell out a solo stadium event for over 25,000 people, he scored a number one hit with his single Traffic, the first instrumental track to reach the top spot in his homeland of Holland in 23 years. His remix of Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan's Silence was the first house track ever broadcast on daytime radio in North America, (it became an international dancefloor anthem and also spent eight weeks in the UK top 10 chart). He played live in front of billions of people during the Parade Of The Athletes at the official opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens. But despite his meteoric success, Tiësto remains grounded about his achievements and clearly loves making and playing music above the accolades it brings.

that was one SICK ASS NIGHT!!!!! prob the best live set i saw him spin. last time he was at FUR/GLOW it sucked ass... it was so damn packed even know they had all the rooms open with him on the vid screen in each room... that was kinda cool but everyone still wanted to be in the main arena... pick a spot early! |

here's my review-
from the start things seemed off- the line was incredibly long, and several of the security guards / ticket takers were being obnoxious; a guy in front of me was kicked out of line because the security guard claimed he could smell alcohol on his breath :wtf:
when i finally got into the main room, it was literally packed like a tin of sardines. however, people in the crowd were generally amiable and seemed into it.
as for the music, tiesto started ~12 but only went until 3.30 or so. His set had few choons worth mentioning, and there was one spectacular trainwreck :nervous:
i thought tiesto was supposed to spin until closing, but that wasnt the case. around 3.30 or 4 a fantastic gabriel & dresden dub was mixed in its entirety with at least one or two other tracks simultaneously. i thought to myself, finally tiesto is warming up and getting his together; then i looked up and realized that tiesto wasnt on the decks anymore. instead, it was pete moutso, who spun until closing ~5.30 (pretty late for glow, or?).
his set on the whole was much better than tiesto's. he played some standards; a corsten track or two and mode hookers' instrumental, but he also had some great tracks ive never heard before. IDs anyone? by the peak of his set, most of the non-fanatics had left so there was much more room... at one point i stopped and noticed that i was surrounded by middle-aged asian men. :)
on the whole a mediocre night; i got Tiesto's signature for my collection, but set-wise i would have preferred if pete moutso had been spinning all night
----
*random- i shared a taxi back to georgetown/VA with a few tranceaddicts; we actually sat in the seat/trunk thing of a station wagon; that, along with a completely deserted M street, made for a trippy end to the evening. |

| Sorry to hear that. I've had similar Tiesto experiences. The main reason I didn't go to this was because I knew it was going to be packed judging from the crowd Paul Van Dyk brought out last week. |

| Still a good time tho... overpacked, people pushed and spilled drinks... but tiesto was good... :clown: |

Thanks for the kind words Mike :D
Had fun at Fur opening for the big guy. Tiesto had a quite a good time that night as well, esp with the Deep Dish crew coming into the booth for the party.
Thanks to Dubfire I can't remember much of the night! |
