I think it nearly goes without saying that I wasted copious amounts of time on both! Time that I'll never get back. But hey, you have the rest of your life to work and all that.

SF2 is a classic, i dont think MK could be considered a classic.
Scottaculous
SF for player vs player.
MK for player vs computer.

Therefore, SF > MK.

The most 1337 of SF games was Street Fighter 3: Third Strike because of the parrying system.

i also have a question here. Why hasn't Killer Instinct been brought up as a candidate in this discussion? KI was the best game for when you wanted to do crazy like 50-hit combo's.

co-co-co-co-combo breakurrrrrrrr!!!!

KI > SF

FULGORE!

So here's the breakdown, guys.

The original Street Fighter was released in arcades in 1987. However, the success of the franchise didn't appear until it's sequel, Street Fighter II, which found its way to arcades in 1991. That also happens to be a year before the first Mortal Kombat appeared in arcades all over.

Therefore, it's open to interpretation what you'd call a classic. Technically, you can say that they're both classics since their success started within a year of each other... That is, if you discredit the original Street Fighter. So yeah. It's up to how you look at it. :)

please dude, mortal kombat any day over fighter, no doubt about it.

mortal kombat = photorealistic graphics (at least before it got 3D), great character designs/innovative character skills (they can freeze, shoot spears, blow fireballs, spit acid, punch you in the balls), and awesome character animation (when an MK dude does a roundhouse kick, it looks like what an actual martial artist would do).

street fighter = cartoonish, choppy animation ( just like most anime ), weird ing character selections (it's a ing melting pot, they have X-men, spiderman, plain karate guys, hulk-sized giants, wtf).
This is why I liked MK more. Plus, the music & sound effects were better & more realistic.

how much time did i spent in the arcades on KI2...
best guys to play with were Spinal and the Black boxer dude - it was most challenging to win with him...

I think i finished the game with half of the Characters + i had my name up in every record list on that ing machine:stongue: \\

One time the Arcade owner said he can beat me so i ed him up winning like 30 times straight...the guy just kept giving me more and more free games to play with him until he had to go...he was sweating and ...it was a very 'Malcolm In The Middle' type scene:)

You can install it on your Pc btw...i didnt like it so much so i dumped it after one day...

oh and - SF owns MK!!!!! PSYCHOOOOOOOOOCRUSHERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
