actually it was more like 5hiftn6ears, RJ, StereoPrincess, shanny, grinder, Irishaddict and She fitz...like i said in the beginning of this thread... only the profesional sketchbags were going to this |
Professional sketchbags :O !! I was there, place was ing insane ! Decided to go after hearing the Post-Tiesto sets. Took about 2 seconds and my mind was made up. Didnt wait too long in line although i was standing next to some cracked out blond chick, after about 15 minutes I was let in, and I didn't even have to pay the doorman off like alot of other people in much hurry to get in. So much fun. I hadn't been to CZ since last summer. Forgot how dark it was but yet again ... they cram house everytime.I can never get enough of Addy. The guy will make me move for hours and hours and hours. I went up on "stage" when he finished his set and told him that for a novice dj, he is always an inspiration to watch.
Didnt see any TA's I recognized, and I left midway through De-koze's set. Body was starting to give out at that point.
Lemme know next time you sketchbags hit that place up after a show, i'm more then happy to join the party. And i live 2 mins away at Dundas. |

Addy's "sound" (style) is indeed very good - bumping, intense, driving - I like it. With respect to layering tracks on top of each other - he's probably one of the best in Toronto. Look at his fan base - it's a testament to this fact.
Effective and appropriate layering is wonderful. The subtle twist that layering gives a track is very engaging/interesting. When layering multiple tracks is executed well - it sounds like magik ("quadraphonic stereo sound!"). However, when it doesn't work.... it sounds worse than a botched mix.
It's a risk. Try to make the magik (layer) but risk making a bloody mess.
Monday @ CZ - it sounded like Addy struggled with keeping tracks lined up throughout the entire set. Tracks noticibly drifting apart (repeatedly) is probably frustrating and self-perpetuating in some way - so I can only imagine the stress/pressure.
From a "dance, dance, dance" perspective Addy's set was good. It delivered. From a "precision" perspective it left things to be desired. |

I worded it wrong ... What I meant was. For the "novice" or "beginner" dj's out there. Addy is an inspiration to watch. Better ? He understood and thanked me several times, he later saw me on the floor and thanked me again. No slap. |

I was there....and I wasn't sketchy after like noon. Quite proud of myself. TA's were very welcome faces the times I bumped into them. Kept me going when it felt my legs were about to give out.
DJ of the morning = Nathan Barato
stole the show once again. I ventured into the patio a few times but the more sane I got the harder it got to be out there..plus lil chilly and lack of seating didn't help.
Good times...Missed Lauren though...somehow its not the same without her. till next time !!! |
