i think i know why trance dosnt get old..........

This was just one of my recent realizations about life, love, music, and mayhem.......

As you all know, DJs mix together a string of songs to produce a "mix" or "set." :) You also know that they play songs over and over again, singles are spun on albums, livesets, and put into compilations over and over by all sorts of people; theyre even played on the radio. I realized that these singles dont get old because its how they are used in the context of the mix. Each DJ uses a track to piece together a "journey" through your own imagination and intuit. A certain song may evoke different emotions and feelings each time you hear it because it is always in a defferent context. Even though the song is exactly the same as it is in any other mix, your mind perceives it differently because it is only a piece of the entire experience. Each experience being different than the next, only made possible by the geniuses behind the turntables, conjuring up a storm of emotion with each vinyl they spin.

This, IMO, is why trance, and all other electronica for that matter, is such tireless music. Rock, Metal, Punk... these genres really cant be spun at all and R&B and Rap just dont have the same mixability that electronica does, the effect is not quite the same. Trance will forever have limitless possibility to please whether in the form of a single or an entire set patched together by singles, each with their own sound, together with an eitirely different feel.

Any thoughts?

I think it's because there is so much of it available to feed the addiction that it's very hard to get sick of.

I agree with both of u, trance is great... no other form of music has ever made me feel the different ways trance has.

No songs do get boring...take Sandstorm or Rapture for example. It was liked by many of us at first but now many dislike these songs w/ a passion.

the best songs never get boring.

I've probably listened to Delerium - Innocente (DJ Tiesto Rmx) about 300 times, and it still moves me almost to tears!

and tha kick in the melody in Exhale still surprises me.

just the crappy songs get old... well...I can't say that cuz I kept Solar Stone - Seven Cities on repeat for about 8 hours straight one day and that killed most of the song for me now... :(

i nod...
its all about the mixing and renewal of the songs...one song can sound so different according to the mix and you pick the version of your like n its just simply good..
im thankful for coming across the music that makes me who i am...
i dont understand the haters that just say trance n such , electronica as a whole is only about repetetive beats...which is partially true but in a good sense.it doesnt all sound the same as they claim it to be.. =)
trance does just rule

Absolutely. It's the renewal of the songs that makes a track evergreen.
I once heard a guy in his 20s have this to say about trance as a genre; a quote that I believe till today describes why we are all addicts in out own right, and proud of it.
"Every trance track seem to have a sad story behind it", he says. "And a DJ tells you that story- he brings you on a journey along the way".
Wow. I swear it didn't feel that cheesy when I first heard it. Darn.

To me Trance=Greatness, it caan never be overplayed, even old stuff, i just can't get enough of any song no matter how many times that i hear it, well i have to like it first, but still anything else, gets old fast, trance, never gets old. music is life :)

Johnny :)

if you ask me, i think that there are some songs which can never get old. i think it all depends on the beat, the mix, and the person listening to the song. because i mean, like a few people have mentioned on here, rapture is a good song. but that is not to say that it hasnt been overplayed. that's why i just skip through it if i hear it on a mix or something. but that doesn't mean its bad.

but take for example, something classic like, for an angel. i can listen to that whenever, wherever, because it's just a great song. it has elements that appeal to me on more than one level, and unlike some alt. rock/hip hop song, i don't think it can be overplayed. but that's just me :D

also, to add to some of the comments above.... songs that have a certain emotional attachment to a person REALLY never get old, it like me for instance, Sonic Inc - A Taste of Summer (Fire & Ice Remix), reminds me a lot of my last summer, the best times ive ever had, amd every time I hear it I imagine what this summer is gonna be like...
