I would take him off the squad for that one lolol

I watched it, and I must admit that the US played horribly (I'm not a fan of the US team). But in their defense, I don't suspect that they would try to play as hard as they could knowing the WC is only weeks away.

By the way, the stands are too tame in the US. There was a large amount of fans for Morocco though.

What's the point of hating on the U.S. so much? It's like rooting against Portsmouth, it really doesn't serve a point. The U.S. would be ecstatic to make it to the 2nd round. Obviously though I think the talent level is growing, I mean look at 1994 when they finished butt naked last. Eight years later, they were thisclose to advancing to the final four. That's a pretty big accomplishment. Tuneups friendlies are played as tuneups. Yes, they looked bad but I still have confidence they can possibly squeek into round 2.

I think the biggest weakness for the U.S. is the star quality attackers who can create something from nothing. Kasey Keller is a very strong keeper.

Obviously all our best athletes are eaten up by american football, basketball, and baseball. The passion isn't there though and will always limit their chances. It's too bad since I've grown to love football a lot the last couple of years.

Sorry, I got to root for my country!

members be careful here your a bit out of your league.

Here is why you are wrong:
1. US Wouldnt be ecstatic they would be disapointed to not make it out of their groups. They are a proven good squad

2.The Talent level is growing and their U21 and U19's are some serious but right now they arent that bad either

3.Its great that you are supporting them but with the US name in anysport or competition comes baggage espeecially if they brand themselves as a team that everyone hates and underestimates (not any more)

4. Their weakness is their goalkeeper and midfield base. Keller? come on mate

5. That will change...but not that big

Sorry I'm not out of my league. I don't follow football as closely as I do the big 3 American sports but I do follow the U.S. national team.

1. They do have a proven good squad but I would still suggest the Italy and Czech Republic are the slightly favored to come out of their group still. Ecstatic is probably too strong a word.

2. If you go into innercity Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans or whatever, most of the athletes have basketballs. Go down south to Texas and it's American football. Although perhaps more of our best athletes are migrating to football, it's nowwhere close to what it would be like if it was in Brazil. I've been to Brazil and have seen that passion they have and how every single kid wants to be a football star. We just don't have that here and it will limit the future possibilities of becomining of the contenders to actually WIN the world cup.

I've said the talent level is growing but it will always be limited.

3. US name in any sport..... I'm perplexed that a young kid that comes to live in New York has such a distaste for the U.S. national teams in any sport??? (that's you Ben) Especially when it's not like basketball where we are supposed to be the very best an inevitably choke. I never said that the U.S. will sneak up on anybody this world cup. They are past that and that's good. I'm happy to reach that level.

Personally I don't think the U.S. weakness is where Landon Donovan and Claudio Reyna are.

If you read about Kasey Keller, you will see the respect he gets. I pulled this from soccernet posted over a month ago:

He is rated second in the league among goalkeepers, ahead of the likes of Bayern Munich's Oliver Kahn, a two-time world goalie of the year.

"Kasey has been outstanding," Moenchengladbach coach Horst Koeppel said. "I prefer to say defense is a team effort, but he alone has won us points."

Keller also picked up the Honda Award earlier this month as the best U.S. soccer player, his second such award, drawing effusive praise from American teammates for his role in the team reaching the World Cup. He recorded a record eight shutouts.

Check the article here:

But there is many more like that if you google them.

My peace...
