I suppose that's a point, but why is it always such a big deal for people whenever there's a hint of a dress code at a place or event? I don't get it. There's rules of dress for pretty much everywhere and everything you do. Sometimes it's as simple as no shirt, no shoes, no service, to complex as black tie events. Point being here is you follow dress codes at work, at school, in life in general. It's not always what you want to be wearing, but you do it. Why is it that when a club decides that they want to have a dress code that it's the end of the world for some people? Just because you're not in the most comfortable clothes you own doesn't mean you can't be comfortable and conform to the dress code.

And in all honesty, I don't think this will really be "dressed up", and more importantly, places like Europe have much more importance on how you look to get into a club, so I don't think it will really phase Armin at all.

**edit** That said, I think the only person that even mentioned dress code was there on a weekend, weren't they? What was the type of crowd? Young, mature, etc. This makes a huge difference as to what the people would be wearing, and given that it's part of the casino/hotel as well. Given the Wednesday party, I would imagine the dress code would be somewhat more relaxed than what is on a weekend. Sometimes, I wish places like Guv would require people to keep their shirt ON, but I'm just splitting hairs now.

yes it was on a sat. The cround seemed more or less a young mature croud. You do HAVE TO BE 21 to get in this place. I forgot to mention this earlier. I know its Canada, but for some reason you do need to be 21 to get in. When i say young, mature i mean people seemed to be around 26ish, but there were plently of young adults (30s) roming around. Like most of you have said, it will be a clubbing wed so it will prolly be more "relaxed." I will be attending the Mark Oliver wed as well, so I will post what the vibe is when its over and done with

The primary reason I think ppl complain and get rilled up is because they look at dancing as a pastime, like chilling with your buddies.

You want to be comfortable, this isn't your job, this is your everyday personal life. They dont wanna be "forced" to dress in a manner such as they may have to conform to in order to make a living.

And most ppl dont expect to necessarily be happy while working (sad, yes, but most/many see working as a necessary evil to get money to support themselves and live life the way they want to), but many if doing a fun activity in their pastime, want to be as content as possible.

Im just trying to break down the likely logic as felt by those who dont enjoy conforming to 'style codes'.

C'est tout.

Wow first no advanced tickets...no this stupid dress code...I mean what are they expecting us to not dance when Armin is spinning and to dance in dress shoes ? this is a joke. I think Armin must be gettin payed a sh*tload for this, if only he knew how lame this will be. I think I will see you Armin in Toronto.

By the way does anyone know when tickets will go on sale for the Armin show in Toronto ?

if i knew that i would not have booked my hotel and taken off work...such bull wtf is charles thinking

You don't necessarily have to wear dress pants to this place. It was said that people wore jeans - but it was few and far between. That still means you CAN wear them. They just can't have rips and holes in them. They have to be nice, clean cut jeans.

I think Charles knows exactly what he's doing. Like I said before...he owns TIL and he has PLENTY of business for a dress coded place, and people are rammed packed into that place dancing - I know, I've been there.

And I'm coming from Windsor...5 to 6 hours for me. It's a risk you have to take. But chances of you getting tickets are probably very high. If you're worried so much why don't you call the club and express your concern and ask them when you should arrive so you're guaranteed entrance.

This isn't up on his website or the Guvernment's. Very likely that he'll be there but not 100%, and thus tickets wouldn't be on sale, and probably won't be for another month.

Charles has no bloody clue what he is doing, he just has the money to do it

The guv requires people to keep their shirts on. When the bounce walks away swoosh shirt comes off...Second it's so bloody hot in there that the people could care less, the only thing they think of is how bloody hot they are

What do you mean by this? I think that if he didn't know what he was doing he wouldn't have 2 VERY successful night clubs (Guvernment, This is London) - if not more that I don't know about - running for years...Guvernment being open for almost 10 years now, and TIL racking in tons of money with it being packed every weeked and only being open for about 6 months now. This guy OBVIOUSLY has some sort of clue on how to run a successful EDM club.

guy's you got to look at it like this it's one nite it wont kill us and we are going to see Armin Van Buuren who care's about the silly dress code dont let that up ur nite

Just a thought. For those out of towners that are concerned about not getting in as tickets may be sold out why not go with bottle service. I inquired as I usually prefer having a booth if I go with the hubby (he likes to sit on his ass! hehe) and the floor level is only 1 bottle minimum and upstairs w/a great view of Armin is only 2 bottle minimum. Minimum price for a bottle is $175.

Shouldn't that guarantee entrance?! It's yet another price to pay for a great time. :)

I can understand the viewpoint, but at the same time I think the bigger picture isn't being seen. For example, I may want to play softball with some buddies, and we're not necessarily gonna care what we wear. But now say we want to join an organized league, we have to adhere to what rules they have for home and away team colors, on top of the rules of conduct. Small example.

Putting it another way, yes the act of listening to the music by a dj and dancing is a pastime or even a hobby if you will, but once you take it outside of something you have complete control over, ie house party at your own place vs club, you lose a certain amount of control over the circumstances in which you can participate.

That's basically my point, that this isn't their house, their party, or their event. You don't ever really have full control of your surroundings, so in most cases you adapt without even thinking about it. If they want to participate, so be it, but then don't bitch about the fact. If they don't, and the nights flop, then the public has spoken. A dress code in and of itself really isn't a big deal, but I'm just tired of seeing the same posts about how people think it's such an huge infringement on their ability to have a good time.

Not picking a fight, just tossing out my 2 cents.

Yes, it's hot, but that said, I'm not whipping off my shirt on the patio of a restaurant just because it's 30+ degrees outside either. All I'm saying is it's a club, not a beach, pool, etc. Unless you're wearing something very thick, staying in the club with your shirt off is probably not really going to cool you down all that much. If I get too hot, I tend to go to less crowded areas in the club, or head out to the roof or smoking areas to cool down.

Trust me, come July 5th you'll see a "select" few wearing running shoes and jeans at Dragonfly. It all depends on who you know, just like how Charles' other clubs TiL and Ultra Supper Club in Toronto some people wear the above.

Maybe somebody could check out just how strict their Wednesday house night is on the 21st. of June? DJ Dan will be spinning that night!
slingshot
i'm going wednesday to check out dj dan...i'll let you all know how the dress code is.
