Totally agree! Out of all my gf's I know one that knows how to drive stick.
What's the best way to learn and honestly how long would it take?
I have a steptronic (chicktronic sounds better) and sometimes use it...I'm lazy so if I want quicker revs I go into sports mode...
Most of my friends that have standard wouldn't let me near their cars (plus they are luxury cars so i don't blame em...)..so if I ever did want to buy a standard car should I just rent a standard car and drive the crap out of it ? |

Under 10 hours is more than enough. But you'll most likely won't be able to survive for longer than about 2 hours at a time because at first your clutch foot will be sore as hell. Practice the 1st and second gear the most - those are the hardest ones. Once you can shift smoothly from neutral to 1st and 1st to 2nd, the other gears will be a piece of cake. Honestly, it wasn't that hard for me at all.
It goes without saying that practicing with someone who actually drives stick will help prevent many ups on your part. |

Yeh! When I was learning to drive stick my mom takes me to this 30 degree grade, stops pointed uphill and she tells me that this will be the hardest thing to learn. After slipping backwards the first 2-3 times I got the hang of it, but it was scary! |

| alright. I say we all start participating in these lottery events, one of us wins a car and/or a house, and we make it a "TA vehicle" or the "TA party house", yes?:happy2: :happy2: :happy2: |

That's when you learn to balance your car in 1st gear, I love doing that where I roll up and down the hill, gives the guy behind a "oh is he gonna hit me" look. |

If you were really balancing it on the clutch, you wouldn't be rolling down; the clutch would catch and you'd stay in one place. |

He's doing a teeter-totter kinda thing. I know what you mean, and the first thing that it reminded me of was Subaru's HillHolder clutch system. |
