You have to keep in mind that this movie is propaganda. You have to watch it with a really critical eye. The whole point of the damn thing is to get you freaked out about global warming. And I'm not saying global warming doesn't exist - I'm just saying you shouldn't be so convinced of its existence or its planet destroying effects after watching a 90 minute film.
Anyway, I'm gonna go see this sometime this weekend. Should be interesting after reading the comments in this thread. |

| no i dont regard it as propaganda.... Avian Flu and terrorism are used as propaganda.... Al Gore is not putting this out to further his career (hes said he WONT RUN FOR PRESIDENT AGAIN time and time again), hes putting this out after decades of independent research hes done because of a former college professor of his that peaked his interest on the subject way back |

Al Gore has been doing studies on this for DECADES, yes, DECADES.... more than anyone in the White House has done for them to say it DOESNT EXIST, so YES, he knows a lot more about atmospheric science than anyone else outspoken on the issue right now, and your point? and YES, they did study weather patters from the past million years, and yes, you ARE an idiot |

How is this not propaganda? Anything used to deliberately further one's cause can be considered propoganda. Isn't this movie trying to convince everyone to jump on the anti global warming bandwagon? |

I don't understand your point. If you're "raising awareness" with the hope of getting people to believe in one cause, then what you're doing can be considered propoganda.
About the AIDS walk, yes, that can be considered propaganda too. It does not necessarily have a negative connotation to it. Although the AIDS walk is usually impartial since we're pretty sure AIDS exists, so I guess it can't truly be considered propaganda. Is this film impartial though? |

| propaganda DOES have a very negative connotation to it, thats my point... a movie is a movie and this one just happens to try and raise awareness to a cause... propaganda is used when someone knowingly tries to make people agree with or accept something they know isnt totally true or right... Nazi-ism, McCarthyism, some instances in Iraq with newspaper articles being premade by our government to tell them what WE want to tell them... stuff like that... sure maybe you can find a dictionary entry that says otherwise but propaganda has a very bad connotation |

Well, then we're are just disagreeing on the definition of propoganda. It doesn't have a negative connotation in my book. It's just the presentation of information that is not impartial with the goal of influencing opinions if you ask me. |
