Planet Earth's human population devoted 685 years of itself to Armin Van Buuren yesterday.
And off with the "well I was doing other things while...." story. BUSYING YOURSELF WHILE LISTENING TO ARMIN'S SHOW FOR 8 HOURS DOESN'T TAKE AWAY THE FACT THAT YOU MADE AN EFFORT TO LISTEN TO AN 8+ HOUR-LONG TRANCE SHOW |
One time... me and a load of other ppl 'wasted' 8 hours listening to Ferry live at the Guvernment....
i wonder how many years of my life i've 'wasted' listening to trance...
actually... i don't care... it was sweet and yesterdays ASOT kicked ass!

We could have cured cancer. Instead, the world decided to eat a disco biscuit and trance out for a collective total of 685 years on this day by listening to Perpetual Dreamer and his band of trance-goon buddies.
It's ing mind-blowing to think of. |
How do you figure? Most human endeavors were accomplished as a sequence of events, one dependand on the string of events that were its precursors. IE, water flowed downhill, people ground corn, someone invented a waterwheel, attached to it a big rock, and made flour to feed a multitude of other people. All these other people made a series of similar observations that in their turn led us to the grand technobable of today. I'm afraid that our collective wasted labour would have amounted to absolutely nothing were it spent on something more constructive. Were it a case of curing cancer, it just be impossible. If we had 685 CONSECUTIVE years, then maybe. Now, were you to even apply this labour in a linear fashion, that of say people going out to farm, or fix roads, or pick up garbage, the sheer logistics of organizing 685 years worth of manhours into a unified effort would itself use up years worth of planing.
Here's another one? Consider how much collective manhours Toronto alone wastes weekly on waiting: waiting for the bus, waiting for the red light to turn, waiting for the microwave to go "ding". SHeer madness I say.
BTW, I resent that comment about math Vertigo. Where would all our beloved autos be were it not for math. |

That's not true. We didn't waste our time, we were DANCING and thus EXERCISING which is good for our bodies, while we were listening to Ferry live at the Guvernment... |

what's wrong with making an effort to listen to good music that you enjoy while doing other things? Music that will keep you happy and thus will probably perform better in the tasks that you are doing (i.e. finding a cure for cancer) b/c you are in good spirits? |

Concerning the spectacle that was ASOT 250 earlier today....
I was doing a calculation on this, because I thought it would end with a staggering figure.
I was right.
This program was broadcasting to at least 1.2 Million people around the world on the internet.
If we estimate that the average listener tuned in for 5 hours of the show, we find that the total amout of estimated time used to listen was 6 Million hours.
Take 6 Million hours, divided by 8,760 hours in one year, and you have a total of 685 years.
685 Years.

who are you telling to shut up? The people who don't care that they listened to the 8 hr set? Or the people who think that they wasted useful hours of their life listening to the 8 hr set?!
Also...RELAX it's a public forum. |
