the problem with all these programs is you gotta be super quick on a mouse, as its your only controller, it gets hard keepng track jumping from one side of the screen to the other, whereas with "real" DJ-ing, both hands are free and you can be much more efficient, whereas the progs are like DJing one handed
or you could just try to remember the 100+ preset keys on the keyboard |

So true. One of the main reasons I was fed up and finally just bought my gear was I was tired of only really being able to mess with one eq at the same time on virtual dj. |

Yeah, and the solution is called MIDI-controllers. Hercules's is cheap and very well worth it, as far as I'm told.
Pretty much f*cked up your critique didn't I? ;P |

| I'm using Traktor 2.5 with a Behringer BCF2000 controller. Not exactly ideal, but it gets the job done... for now :) |

I use Traktor 2.53 with an M-Audio X-Session midi controller. The X-Session has 16 knobs, a cross-fader, 10 button switches and can be configured like a 2 channel mixer with 3 band EQ, kill switches on each band, and bandpass filters.
I still use a mouse but I'm much less dependent on it since I have those EQ knobs on the midi box "mixer". Overall it's very similar to conventional DJing with 2 CD decks and a mixer. |

They're now $107 US at Florida Music. Come down in price since I got mine there. Only weighs about 2 or 3 lb and fits in the notebook bag. That store has lots of other Midi boxes, or "control surfaces" in their index.
Not as sturdy built as a mixer but good enough and I like the small size & weight. Cover is heavy-ish plastic, bottom and connector panel is metal.

thats true too, i have to admit, MIDI Controllers slipped my mind at the time i posted that, after all ive seen some amazing breaks sets done with DJ Programs, some with, and others without Midi controllers...
but it was for this reason that i bought my gear as well, instead of just MIDI controllers, its just more "authentic" i suppose, i guess thats the best word to use |
