i'm just saying...you're going to be judged. women are always like "why can't i find a guy that's gonna be a good boyfriend" or "why does everyone think they can treat me a certain way"...well it's because the way they percieve you.
you can be the sweetest girl in the world, but if you come off a certain way that's what you're going to get. like it or not...society profiles people and judges them. i could be a nice guy, but if i look scary and dangerous...then that's what you're going to think until you get to know me. and unfortunately if you're out people aren't really taking the time to get to know you most likely... |

maybe i just really don't care that much about the way people 'perceive me'...i don't go around judging people, so it's their own fault if they do it to me. i am happy with the person that i am, and that's all that matters to me. i'm not going to ever dress or act a certain way so that i give out the right perception. and if people are too closeminded to look past their judgements, then they can off because there's no reason why that should be MY fault.
that's like when guys look at a girl and call her a slut...i hate that. i'll go out w/ my guy friends and they'll see a chick and automatically write her off. i'm always like "have YOU slept with her? do you KNOW how many guys she's been with? she could be a virgin for all you know"...i've met a lot of girls in my life that i have completely misjudged...which just proves how pointless it is to judge someone in the first place. |

i'm not saying you can't do what you want, but if you really didn't care why would you ask TA's opinion as to how it appears? that's all i did was give my personal opinion...you don't have to agree with me. |

I hate when people make statements like this. Everyone who lives in any sort of social structure cares what other people think of them. This is an instinctive thing, the perception others have of us determines our place in the social structure and our place in the social structure has a direct impact on our ability to live, choose mates, pass on genes, etc. What people who make statements such as the above really mean to say is "I don't want people to think I care about what they think." |

when there are few times that i actually do care what others think, the ONLY people that ever have any sort of bearing on my thoughts, are like my parents or close friends/boyfriend. but i think there are way too many people out there that are so wrapped up with the concept of their IMAGE, it's stupid. the way i think about it, is life is too short to worry about your clothes or your hair, or wearing a bra...do what makes YOU comfortable. and if those around you are made UN-comfortable by said (shallow) choices, then they are putting too much time into worrying about what others think as well. who careeeeeees! spend more time doing things that actually matter. |
