So I am in the market to buy a new mixer and i have about 1100 to spend. I am torn between the DJM 600 and the Xone 62. From what I understand (from what people told me in my last thread on the matter) the Xone has MUCH better sound quality than the DJM, but the DJM comes with effects and the Xone only has filters.
Someone reccomended the Ecler Nuo 5 which appears to be the best of both worlds but I don't really know much about the quality, reliability etc. (can anyone comment on this?)
I could always get a Xone and then an EFX 500, but I figure if I had a DJM and an EFX then i could layer effects, like using reverb and flanger at the same time during buildups, which would add a lot to the music
Anyway, I would appreciate any suggestions, thanks |

if i was in your situation - i would get the ecler, then the xone...
but this is coming from somebody who owns a behringer...
just my $0.02
edit: ecler provides 3 yr warranty, and the nuo5 has the eternal xfader |

I would say pass on the DJM-600. It's very dated now and not really worth what Pioneer is charging for it. If you can spend a little (ok a lot) more the 800 is better in every respect (build quality, sound quality, etc.).
The Xone 62 is also a bit dated at this point, but it has top notch build quality and sound quality. It seems to be have a few usability quirks that were corrected in the 92 (also a lot more money).
So in that price range the Ecler looks like the best. I haven't used one myself, but have only heard great things: Great build quality, great sound quality, usuable effects.
As for layering effects, I personally wouldn't pay much attention to that. Sounds like a cool thing, but in practice it would just annoy the heck out of people.

| are these models really outdated or do they just have less features because they are less money? |

I dunno if I would say outdated. They are old models for sure. They dont have all the bells and whistles that the $1000+ mixers have.
IMHO the DJM-800 is one of the sickest mixers alive right now. It's also WORLDS better quailty wise than the old DJM-600.
Add a rotary kit and the DJM-800 becomes the coolest mixer around. :) |

i'm about to buy a nuo5 and was asking around the exact same question.
question for people who own A&H [69]2, does the sound is really incredible ? i'm not sure i need an extreme sound quality as long as my mixer will only be used at home and on small event (max 10kw). |

I have the 92, and yes it does sound very very nice.
But the nuo is supposed to sound good as well, so I think you'd be happy either way.

I would say Ecler Nuo5, then the Xone, then the 600. And yes, the 62 and the 600 are outdated, for different reasons.
Oh, and on the 600, you can't layer the EFX over the effects. You can use the built-in effects, OR the send/return, but not both simultaneously. Unless you put the EFX on the master out. |
