Does no one else think it's weird that HE'S ALREADY 5 YEARS OLD?!?!?....I mean what has everybody been calling him until now?..."hey boy"..."hey you"...Do you not think this will be a serious mind to be all of a sudden called a different name?.. call the little ****** Greg and be done with it.

Greg is one of my favourite names for males, but I have a very positive connection to that name.

Seriously, call him Greg, that is his real name. It only makes sense.

If his real name translates to Greg in English, why the hell don't you call him Greg?!

...

+1

I think, barring having unstable parents who've given him a freakish name (re: Moon Unit or Dweezil, thanks to Frank Zappa), that it's *extremely* disrespectful to your parents to just give him another name.

If his given name translates, even roughly, in English to Greg...then it should be Greg.

Someone on another forum suggested using Alexander as his middle name, so his parents can call him Greg, and then he can choose if he wants to be called Greg or Alexander. I think it works because 1) Alexander is a popular name in Russia 2) That name belongs to both his grandfather and great grandfather and 3) It shortens into Xander or Xan, which is badass. That's the best suggestion i've heard so far.

and also guarantees him of:

i) getting beat up every recess
ii) never losing his virginity,
iii) becoming the leader of a pack of nerds that play out Dungeons and Dragons in the woods

he could also work for xerox, play the xylophone, have a wife named Xena and live in Xanadu.
