...is probablly the greatest reference source in all of dance music. the entire site is just a plethora of just about every kind of track you could imagine, and the coolest part is it is all split into genre and sub genre. i haven't bought anything from them yet, but previewing everything gives u an awesome taste of everything comin out throughout the edm world. haha i'm jus havin a good time sittin round my place sampling all the prog, so i thought id write about it. check it out if u've never been

I don't buy anything from them since I don't buy singles, mostly just comps and artist albums (and D/L sets), but from what I've seen of their site, they don't carry a lot of things. I've found Juno.co.uk to be more reliable for referencing tracks and sampling tracks.
There's been a decent amount of discussion over in the music discussion forum regarding beatport and other similar services if you're interested |

Juno needs to do more .wav...Then I'd consider them a better source. Not all their releases are in .wav format.. It's a must now for CD DJs.. |

He was talking about for sampling new material and as a reference source, not for using to DJ. Like if you want to see what a particular DJ sounds like before going to see him, or if you're trying to remember a track name for a tracklist. Since he's not buying anything, it doesn't matter what formats they have.
BTW, there's a whole thread about this in the DJ Booth. |

I was referring to your comment about juno being a more reliable source to refer to someone. I'm just saying not all their releases have .wav material.. Beatport does. Thus DJs using a .wav more than a 320kbps file. |

I didn't say it's a more reliable source to refer to someone, I said I've found it to be a more reliable reference source, which is completely different.
I agree with you, if I were going to DJ, beatport, with its .wav's would be one of my top sources. |

unless you have some computer frequency detector in your head you can't really tell that there is a huge difference between the 320kb mp3s and the waves, but that is a totally different topic.
as for beatport being "the greatest reference source for dance music" i personally think that it is far from that, if not really ty at categorizing music. ive heard many tracks that really dont belong into the genres they put it in. |

Actually you wrong nither of them are great "refrences" they both are online retail sites for music niether of which encompass much music prior too 2000. But they both are equally great for hearing samples of recent tunes...
Discogs.com is the one and only refrence.
