| We luckily made it there to catch a little bit of RJ's set which was great. Seneca's set was SICK!!! It was my first time seeing Second Sun and I liked there energy and enjoyed their set. I have to say though that Markus really impressed me. It was my 3rd time seeing him and he did not disappoint! My friend Jennifer and I loved Markus's set! :) |

pics are up
Two pages worth, there are a few funny TA pics. Andy what on earth are you doing in this pic... LOL.
Unfortunately only a few of my pics of Seneca came out (4th row of pics). The others were too blurry. Seneca I think I got better pics of you on your camera, send those to me and I'll put em up in here. Your camera has a really good night setting. I know I have it on mine too since they're both Canons - just have to figure it out.
And I didn't get any pics of RJ because I got there towards the tail end of his set. :< I did hear some tracks and I know he started a good club groove going.
review coming next.. |

Oh my god what an amazing night. This was a pure dance music heaven. Seneca did a marvelous job with his first live Ableton outing, throwing down lots of good stuff - good to hear Lumieres along with Damaged and also Starchasers' West End Girls rocked.
Second Sun was AMAZING, as I mentioned already lol. I freaked out when they dropped a SICK remix of "Another One Bites the Dust".. That is one of my favorite tracks ever. And I ALWAYS knew it had the makings to be a killer club track. What a bassline. "The Spell" rocked again, and yes again, "Crush" blew me away. They did play the same version they did last time. And it was just as amazing to hear as the last time. Rock.
Markus Schulz... I only really know his stuff through his myriad of Coldharbour remixes. And those, are pretty much for the most part "chilled" out. Very very good, but more like, loungy - steady basslines, very Miami-esque moods - definitely not a bad thing. So that is what I was expecting from him. Boy was I wrong. He started with a bang and did not let up - played Killa - amazing to hear @ Vision. A remix of False Light that I could not identify that was also very good. I totally was not expecting to hear a full-out trance assault. On came a sick mix of Air for Life that I didn't recognize - anybody know what it was? I was in trance heaven at this point and I had to be dragged away when we were leaving... yeah when you have to tell me it's time to go at 4, you know I'm loving it.
What a diverse selection of dance music. RJ with the opening groove, Seneca representing for the progressive house scene, Second Sun with their own (bangin) sound, and finishing off w/ an ultimate trance set by Markus. For me so far, this was the best night of 2006. The Nic Fanciulli show is a very very close 2nd, just because Nic and Paul played some tracks that totally blew me away.
Three more reasons why this night was so kick ass. There wasn't much smoke in the air - don't know if there just weren't as many people smoking, or if dousing the crowd with ample servings of CO2 throughout the night did the trick (see pics!). It was sweet. Could not smell much smoke at all on my clothes after leaving. And - the sound - was loud, but EQ'ed so well that it didn't like, hurt your ears. And finally, there was a VIBE. Something which you can't get with any amount of money - or even booze. The vibe. It's there, or it isn't. It's a combination of energy, the music, the sound, the people, and the club. This definition obviously varies for everyone but for me, the most deciding factor out of those - as far as the vibe is concerned - is the music. And the music delivered. Non-stop. All these are KEY things that can make or break a night for me. And they all passed with flying colors last night. |

I think that may have had something to do with the Pioneer DJM-800 in the booth... thing is sweet |

| Wish I could've made it down. Felt like all day yesterday (still do today) so I didn't feel like making the drive down. Seneca - I hope you got my message last night. Sounds like it was a good night of music. Glad to hear Vision has the 800 now. See you all this weekend for Digweed / Narcisse / Localized. :) |

Excellent sets by RJ & Seneca, loved the laptop set & I now clearly know which one was Rubin's song, which I really liked. I'm eating my words about doubting Second Sun, as they were the highlight of the night for me. Liked what Markus was playing and recognized a lot of tracks, but was short on funds so I walked all the way home drunk a little early and listened to Rob Turner - Glamorama on my mp3 player.
Again, sorry I couldn't host afters but heard about the Second Sun thing and sounds like it was a blast. Someone said they were willing to host another afters, but not sure if that panned out. In that one picture I believe I was double fisting and then decided to give Rashidi half of one of my beers, but after 9 hours of drinking I'm not exactly sure.
Nice to see lots of people out including Yuris, James, Christen, Jennifer, Seneca (obivously), Rubin, Blake, Lara, Avex, Khoury and many others. See you all Friday for Diggers. |
