Would it possible to create our own trance 'anthems', tracks unique to Australia that sent Australian crowds insane... that Armin and Markus et al weren't playing? I think that would be really lovely, uniting, PLUR and all, for the people of Australia.
How awesome would it be if Armin (or equivalent trance dictator) came out next time and saw a dancefloor get absolutely SMASHED by a track he'd never heard of? I say very awesome it would be.
So yep, more tracks from aussie producers getting caned on the dancefloor to make genuine crowd pleasers (a quality vocal trancer gets bonus points :tongue2 )
C'MON kids DO IT. I'm sick of ASOT & Anjuna. They have boring stuff but it has to get played cos it's the only stuff people know and can jump around to with a sense of familiarity :( |

Is it possible? Ofcourse it is. In fact its happened before many times... just not recently. ( that eye n0 of ) :)
The problem is - 90% of Australian producers actually WANT Armin / etc to play their tracks. They want their music to be recognised globally not just here. The second thing is "some" people have this - "Well if the track is not signed by some awethome intenational labelz then I wont like it" mentality... These people, fair to say have no idea about music.
I think its great that you want to support local music |

I've no issue in producers wanting Armin to play their tracks, that's understandable, it would be the stamp of approval for most...
But what of all the talented producers who have made a track that would be an 'anthem' (or at least a pretty farken massive hit) if the 'right' people played it.
The 'right' people can definitely be our locals; they dictate what we hear out in the clubs.
And if the support network was really good, a talented person mightn't necessarily even call themselves a 'producer' and mightn't have thought of properly releasing a track. It could become a hit on the dancefloor without ever receiving some official type release, couldn't it?

Awww, not supporting too much as I honestly don't even know the names of tracks that I'd need to support! I'm just sick of the stuff that gets shoved in our faces everyday, that we are told or lead to believe is good, and I think being located so far from where all the superstar trance action is means we don't have to get caught up in the trance scene that is getting dictated by very few players.
I honestly believe if enough people were into the idea we could capitalise on our scene and music, and get some really different and great things happening. |

Vee i think u'll find that most of the guys playing trance around melbourne aren't really looking at whether or not armin has played a track, at least not most of the djs i know.
The problem at the moment is that alot of the trance getting made (worldwide) is trying to follow a particluar formula which all to easily becomes really boring prog-trance or really cheesy/hard -tech trance.
Its rare that you find something that is really good, but also really different (not saying it doesn't happen, just rare ;) )
The other thing to keep in mind is that tracks can take a few plays to get familar with ppl, the events/night that are on aren't frequent enough so most get to know tunes thru downloaded sets etc, which sadly not many australian djs are putting out so would make it a bit harder to get that "anthem" status ur referring to.
I really like where ur going with this tho, and not saying it cant happen, but will be difficult. :) |

It was done, awesome idea, did it really ever go anywhere? I think everyone has a copy of that damn cd though (plenty of TA's tracks included) :)

Sure there are plenty of local producers who give away 'promos' to djs here to play out... The tracks don't have to be "officially released" on some label for them to be played out.
Secondly - it goes without saying that in order for a "local hit" so to speak to happen that - a) its an awesome track and b) our local Djs support those tracks... That network certainly has to be there... I think our local DJs are pretty cool in that respect... Not just here in melbourne but in sydney too...
Last but not least - I don't view Armin playing any of my music as the greatest 'stamp of approval'... I know that if he was to play one of my tracks however that a crapload of people would get the opportunity to hear it. And for a lot of producers thats their major goal in writing trance. |

Nice thread guys.. scotty is right, this begic **** has no idea.. couldnt tell from clay, and tries to write tunes.
Queen vee - i'd say sit tight for the next few months/seasons because by the way it's looking a load of producers are surfacing and theres heaps of good tunes coming out from the local lads.
these things take time eh.. its artistry IMO |
