I don't mean like MULTIPLE (5 or 6)...i mean can i have two songs from a producer in the same set...I really like the A and B side of a record .... they are different songs (not remixes of one another)...what's the rule on this for a promo/gig?
Thanks for the responses. |

wow, sorry, this seems like a really ridiculous question. maybe i'm being ignorant, but, who gives a f***? do what ever you want, as long as it sounds good, that's the bottom line. if it sounds good, it doesn't matter what you do/did. maybe there is an "rule" agaisnt your concern, and even if there was, it still wouldn't matter. JUST DO IT(nike)
oh and i dont mean to be rude, but, grow some balls. how do expect to expand musically if you are worried about breaking "rules".:D |

no, I'm sorry, I did not realize there were ridiculous questions in the learning process, I guess i will refrain from asking in the future. Or is there a different forum i should ask my outlandish questions in?

How about you grow some balls? If you "don't mean to be rude" then ing don't, just hold your comment to your own damn self or construct it in a positive way. There was a way to contribute a response to my question without being a dick, you just chose to take the other route. How do I expect to expand musically? By asking questions. I am sorry if you feel like they are dumb. I might ask you the same question: How do you expect to expand musically by holding in all of your worries, concerns and questions? Or do you know everything already?
Obviously there aren't "rules," but there are standards people go by to determine the efficacy of a set. If you go to the DJ booth forum there is a thread discussing mixing versus track selection, was it stupid for the person who asked that question to ask? It seems to me like Electronica is about progression, creativity, acceptance and learning. If you don't have room for that in your heart and mind, why does that mean I am the one who should be excluded from the conversation? Seems to me like you are the one who is above this community...
I'm over it...I will ask someone else next time.
Thank you for your response to my question.

| DJs do it all the time. Look at many DJ playlists and you'll find many of their own productions and you'll find many guys on here put multiple productions from some of their favorite artists in their sets as well. So it's no big deal. There really is no rule per say but it's best not to play so many of the same artist and their remixes as it begins to sound samey. And don't put so many of their stuff together one after another, good to have variety..however some artists have multiple aliases, and some of the aliases have a slightly (sometimes very) different sound, so that can work as well. |

| Dude, if Sander ever came this way, whether it be here in Philly or NYC or DC, I'd be there in a heartbeat! Definitely my favorite producer and from the set I've heard from him, he just destroys it! |

Tech Trance, Techno, Trance... also sometimes plays Prog at a faster tempo. The set I heard from him, he played Eluna - Severance (Markus Schulz remix) with a faster tempo and it totally kicked ass! |
