You'd suprised that some of the most expensive DJ's are not even on the EDM circut but are DJ's like DJ AM and guys that play Hip Hop for upscale private parties and ...especially in the US.

For highest paid? My guess is Tiesto

he still plays @ Twilo...? is that accurate....?

i still find it odd that i can see radiohead for $40, but a club/promoter charges $30 to see some guy play records....lol

radiohead doesnt come close to an 8+ hour sets that some dj's throw down....

not to talk about radiohead (which happen 2 be one of my top 5 fav bands), but alota people underestimate and underpraise a GOOD dj....some djs i like to beleive tell a story with their music, @ least thats what Lawler is gonna do this weekend....I havent even witnessed the sickness of this saturday night, but im ready to vouch for every single bit of it....I cant W88888888

The market, day of the week, and relationship with the promoter has a lot to do with it.

I'll give you an example with out throwing any names. I was going to book a big trance headliner DJ last year (a Top 100). The restrictions were that I couldn't book him in LA/Hollywood because of his relationship with other promoters. But, I can book him in OC for much cheaper. He wanted $2000 plus expenses to book him here. That isn't that much. If I booked him in San Diego or Mexico, he wanted $1500.

Other example. Tiesto tickets last month. In San Diego... $40. In Mexico $20. They were the same night too. Then the following day in LA, they were $55.

You can tell who's paying him more by the ticket prices.

The country makes a big difference too. I paid $40 plus service charge to see Paul van Dyk solo here in February. I paid $18EUR ($23USD) for my ticket to see Paul van Dyk in Berlin at The Love From Above the night before the Love Parade (he plays a 2 hour set at the beginning and then later closes until 10 a.m.), plus many other DJ's as well!
