I missed this event, dang.......
Tordan
When I arrived it was just after 2am and the music was great. Some really good house tunes had us going nuts. But around 3am Max just completely lost us. He slowed things down and the music just started sounding monotonuous to me. I actually had to put some effort into dancing and moving in hopes that he would pick up the pace a bit. This continued until the end around 4:30 which left me asking myself WTF happened?

I remember his at System where we were all going nuts on the dance floor until the very end. Maybe his set was better early on and I missed most of it by coming late but one would expect the energy level of the set to increase as it progressed. Oh well, not a bad night at TiL. I hadn't been back in a long time and it was nice to see the club not packed to the . One complaint about the sound though, sometimes the highs are just too much, especially out on the dance floor. I had run off or cover my ears since I didn't bring my earplugs.

Great seeing a bunch of TAs in attendance and Mr. Swamper & Co. celebrating his bday... that was day 2 of 4? :)

what does the dj top 100 have anything to do with your gig at TiL?

dont really see the relation, unless of course you are blaming the fact that the turnout was low because your name isn't tiesto?
max graham
just using it as an analogy for how most promoters book their dj's and club nights the world over.

the promoters will not rebook me based on how great the music was or the quality of people
but rather the amount of people that i drew. same with the top 100, its a hype machine that promoters look to to see who to book and how many people they will bring in, very little to do with music.

whatever i say will be misconstrued one way or another but it was simply a response to someone saying its quality not quantity...not to the promoters its not in 90% of cases. regardless of how happy i was with the crowd and the night, i know the turn out was low and that effects me being invited back.

I think Max Graham + Sonic = kick ass night

Regardless of what people on here think it seems to me that Max may have a bit more experience with promoters and party organizers than most of us do. Its awful easy for people to be arm chair dj's and say that you shouldn't be concerned with numbers, but nothing changes that needing to realize the reality that you live and perform in cannot be ignored. I'm sure there are lots of very impressive DJ's who no one has ever heard of because they don't realize that to a certain extent there must be at least an acknowledgement of what promoters are concerned with.
I'm not saying thats everything, but I disagree with certain comments being made bashing Max's comments on the importance of bringing in numbers. I give him an awful lot of credit for even posting on tranceaddict, when's the last time someone else did that?

Not to mention... checking out the TA website, he obviously cares about feedback, he's a student of his own game which is often overlooked and under appreciated. (I'm guessing) Max started reading this thread to here opinions, thoughts, likes and dislikes... to take, use and grow. All about evolution. I for one enjoyed the set, that Chris Lake - Changes mix was frickin' unreal. I never liked a posh club like TiL... I like dirty hell holes, I mean, last year... System Soundbar... tell me when daft punk was dropped you weren't shakin' your asses?

I give Graham all the credit in the world... thank you for connecting with your fans... it's appreciated and your set was well appreciated if not by everyone by some of the masses in attendance. Hopefully next time you get the bigger draw...
max graham
much appreciated...i would rather be the honest open type than the hide behind carefully chosen press friendly words you know?

see you guys at the next gig

A little late for the review, but I vacation from the computer over the weekends...

WOW... Max... loved the set... pure energy, I couldn't stop dancing... I loved smashing into the few bar stars that kept on walking into me...

I was going crazy with some of the build ups... eek!

I have never seen so many drunk TA's before. I guess I am going to have to come out more often...lol

I found the crowd to be awesome. It was my first time to TIL and I think I would go back. There were just the right amount of people and the sweat factor was barable...

Happiest of Birthdays to you Swamps... I hope you had a good night... I WAS however disappointed that they did not have grape juice and that Del was still standing at the end of the night... :(
