well I'm not sure what I want to do, I'm really diggin this short board but I eventually want to step it up to a 154-155, i think this season im gonna stick to the park so the 151 might ride alittle bit better. I might just bust out the 154-155 for free ride sessions but that won't happen until killington.
some note worthy events i forsee this winter
killington
jay peak
whiteface
mt hood (w/frost and bliss)
lake tahoe or park city again
probably big bear mtn or snow summit in cali during NYE.
Stay Tuned kids... |

i started really riding aggressively since 03 ish so I guess you can say I just got into it. been riding since 00-01. My first time out west was last year to Salt Lake City and I loved it. My parents never were the skier types so any exposure to this sort of sport was done when I was willing and able to go myself or with friends. Hated it the first year but saw my friends kept at it, hated the fact that i was riding alone and busting my ass but that only motivated me to keep up.
So I guess you can say after seeing all there is to ride during my first trip west, I am officially hooked. |

it's hard not to get hooked when you go out west ;)
i'm already planning trips to Lake Tahoe (never been there before) and Park City Utah, and deff Nor Cal Big Bear for sure.
My dream would be to hit up the Alps though lol :eyespop: |

Oh my God, I have THE FEVER!
It won't go away! It's kid nyce's fault with his snowboarding videos!
Burton store trip today!!
I'm having trouble finding bindings I like that will match (yes, I am a girl) my new board. Then I need a new outfit to match all THAT. :wtf:
My Salomon Ivy:

Salomon boots are these or similar:

I kinda love these, but will they look ridiculous? Also not sure about the $219 tag. Burton '07 Cartels

It's hard to find '06 Cartels online now. And the colors I find would look ridiculous, more or less. I remember there was a simpler-looking '06 Cartel, white with just a little bright green accent on the straps. I can't find it anywhere. Will probably end up going for a white/silver or white/black binding. |

06 cartels didn't come in green, this is the first year i'm seeing irregular binding colors. Most of them were mainly black, white, grey, some khaki, blues n reds, etc..
the brighter colors like the greens, yellows, and oranges are always more sought after and it looks like this years line is exactly that.
personally i'd stay away from Burton bindings, I'm just not a fan of the cat strap anymore, it sucks. it does a decent job keeping ur heel locked into their high back but i don't prefer it, over the top is a better strapping system imho. Some of the new innovative bindings have a new polymer material that will allow you to lock your binding in across your toe, the material essentially molds around the toe area and pulls the heal back. this is better for park riding versus free riding.
and yes - blame kidnyce for all snowboarding thirsting that happens - the king of mountain hype...ride on. |

I meant these, white with green accent, and I actually found them online just now for $160:

Actually Brian, the toe of almost all Burton bindings (higher end at least) is convertible to over-the-toe or over the top of the foot so I can choose which I like best after trying it :)
I just didn't like the Salomon designs for this year, and the '06 Salomon Poison bindings I wanted don't have the convertible strap, which I'm really looking forward to trying... |

the over the top strap is something you can purchase as the original cartel toe binding is the cat strap. you'll need to buy another set of over the top straps which should be about an extra $20-30 more.
i had the 06 cartels in black before i switched to the ride spi's, unless burton changed since then i think it's just cat strap that comes with the binding set...i could be wrong so lol |

I see what you mean, you're right, it may be extra. I like the Burton designs best so I'll probably buy them anyway and cough up the extra if I don't like the cat... plus John has the cat strap and he loves it
Is there anything else you didn't like about Cartels besides strap?? |

hrmm i rode it only for about a season i think, wasn't too fond of the it because the cat strap didn't fit my boot right. it's sorta made to only fit a burton boot toe box area. outside of the strap, i don't remember exactly what i didn't like, just that it was a bit loose like there was flex in the binding even with their new high-back system.
In comparison to my ride bindings, hrmm i'd have to say the response and snap i get off my board with my ride bindings is about 5x greater. again, i know some really good boarders, much better than me, who swear up and down by the cartels, me personally didn't like'em.
there are some other binding companies that are turning out some really nice sets that you can also look into. I'd say my top choices of alternative companies would be Forum, Technine, Ride, Salomon, and k2. |
